I have another on the topic of stroller, a WWYD. We are going on vacation next month. Need stroller(s) when we get there. Do we...
1. Take our strollers - full size one for each kid 2. Take two umbrella strollers and rent a nicer double for the trip when we get there
H is concerned about how the hell we are going to maneuver the airport with two full size strollers, two car seats, two children, and two backpacks as diaper bags. I mean, I get it, but two strollers we two strollers. What have you all 2 kid moms done recently?
When I just flew to Disney with both kids, we took two strollers (a bob and chicco liteway. I pushed the car seat in the liteway with the baby in it. I made DS1 walk and pushed his big nextfit car seat in the bob stroller- it fit without having to hold it. We gate checked the car seats but I should have made the big sit in his car seat on the plane. We gate checked the two big strollers and then did the same thing walking on the way out. I wore a backpack and pushed eachdiaper bag/ carry on underneath each stroller. It worked. Even through security. They wanded the strollers and made me put the car seats on the belt.
That's exactly what I imagined doing becole. H is against it. I dunno why he has it in his mind to rent a double when we get there. I'd be afraid of having it stolen. We are going to Disney as well and I know you have to leave the stroller when you go on rides. I don't care if someone steals my used stroller, but if someone steals the rental we are in trouble. He kind of wants to get a double umbrella to use in the airport, which I'm sure is a bitch to push if we can't deal with the semi nice one we have right now. Downgrading won't help the matter. Men.
mominthemaking14 what are you up to today? Usual WFH Friday? I'd maybe look at the city mini double too. It has two full seats. I'd definitely look on the Facebook marketplace, yard sale sites, etc. so many gently used double strollers and then you can re-sell for what you paid
Yes. Want to meet? I'm horrible I know. Worse case I may ship it
No I just live vicariously through your Friday massage and nail appointments haha
I'm totally not worried about it. Can't even remember what I ordered. I'm off next Friday. Want to plan on that? Maybe we can meet up somewhere and sstwinklinglites can join.

Today I was mad I had to drive in for a 2 hour meeting now I'm grabbing cookies and going home for nap.
Next week I'm flying to ATL for girls trip ... eek.
bazingaa can you still wear littleJ? I flew by myself last summer by pushing the car seat on the stroller and wearing the kid through security. Then when I got through security I let him walk (with his "special backpack"). Can you each take a kid and do that? Maybe get a backpack case for bigJ's car seat so your H could carry the seat and push the kid instead.

Disney is so much walking and all day fun, I would really push for using two. Idk if your kids nap in the stroller. DS1 normally wouldn't but on a day where we are wearing him out, he will fall asleep if you push him in a stroller and he's exhausted. So I appreciated having two so that if one fell asleep, one of us (or my parents) sat with the sleeping kid while the others went on rides. Even if they never fell asleep- there may be things #2 can do that #1 can't and you would have the option to split up and still carry your stuff. I wouldn't worry about having your stroller stolen but I guess it could happen anywhere. Also, security a Disney is tight- they want to go through your bags and belongings and it was much easier to split up and get through those lines. Same with getting onto the train to MK- it would be tough to get a double on the train and in between all the people and the poles. My sister took a double to Disney right before we went and was like "do NOT take a double!!"

Ummm, I dunno. I haven't tried to wear him since Christmas, but it's a good idea. I could wear him and push a stroller with the car seats in it. Then H could push the big in a stroller. Use the under storage of both strollers to hold the carry ons. I'll have to give that a try soon. Can you wear kids through security?
Also, does Disney have their own rentals? Could you manage the airport with just one full size stroller if you pile all your stuff on it, wear little J, and your H could be responsible for BigJ and maybe one car seat (a rolling case for the car seat might be helpful in that case.) Then rent a double when you get there?

I think you have to take them out of the carrier but you can carry them in your arms. Also re: Disney- you can take in a soft cooler of snacks and drinks (no alcohol.)

Another point for bringing our own strollers. The boys are so used to them that they can fall asleep in them. A new or rental one might not feel the same. Everything you are saying is how I was feeling, I was just unsure how hard I should push H in the "I'm right" argument. Lol

I think they have rentals but it's probably cheaper to rent privately.

Yes! This is the BEST way to get through security. If you have the kid in the stroller you have to make them get out and walk through and fold the stroller up. If you wear him, you both avoid the body scanner, they just swipe your hands.
I have a toddler Tula you're welcome to borrow. I won't be using it again until #2 is toddler sized.

My sister had a 1 yo and 3 yo when she went and they had the passes where you could leave and come back in. So if they needed to put the 1 yo down for a nap- the 3 yo had to walk the park and they had to carry a diaper bag with wipes and pull-ups for him because they only had the double.

I saw a double bob on auction site check it. You main find a good one.

You don't even have to take them out. Bub was 2 when I flew alone with him, and he slept through security in the Tula. It was a workout for me to get the car seat and stroller on the belt while wearing him, but so much easier than trying to do all that while keeping an eye on him so he doesn't run off. I was so worried about that trip, but it could not have gone smoother.

Literally take two of the biggest strollers you can find. I even took everything out of my diaper bag and packed it solely for Disney but it was still like cooler with water, snacks, diapers, wipes, jackets, ponchos, sunscreen, bug spray, blankets... it may be hot there now but when we went it was cold at night and pop up rain. Then souvenirs and adult belongings- we were filled to the brim. I would have take two bobs if I had them.
I've heard people like renting the City Mini Doubles - not sure if it's GT wheels or not down there. Easier to push than front-to-backs and seats lay flat for naps. But I can't imagine trying to get 2 through the airport with all the gear. Can you ship a box of stuff to your resort so it's waiting for you?
I do like my double at the zoo. So far the little one has slept through every trip. Curious to see how this spring/summer goes.
H suggested only half jokingly that we should just drive because of all the shit we need to bring. No, H, just no. 🙄
I have an ergo that I've had since the big was little. Is there a siz or weight limit on those? I should know this, but have no idea.
I'm Tula illiterate. Is it like the ergo?
Yeah Tula is really similar to Ergo. I don't know what the weight limit is on the Ergo, but I think it's printed on the waistband. My DS outgrew the Ergo long ago, but I could probably still wear him in the Toddler Tula. It's the same, just bigger.

How do you keep the big from poking/ waking the little in a side by side?
I would take strollers based on what will be most comfortable in Disney. You can make it through the airport- neither is that big and with direct flights, it was nbd at all to have all that stuff.

Good call. It says it's good up to 45lbs, which seems huge and very unrealistic. I'll give it a try, but might take you up on the Tula offer if it doesn't work.

Another question with your experience... I've been so focused on the logistics post checkin, but how did you make it to the gate with everything PLUS suitcases?
So I had H drop me off at the airport door. He put flashers on and unloaded the suitcases at the check in counter with me and the boys. My parents were with me so they helped wrangle kids while we went through the line. They do have self check in now as well. You scan yourself in and then drop your bags off and print your passes. I waited for H to come back from the value park and then we went to security. If you don't have any help, I would drop you and the boys and your stuff off at the check in, wait for your H to come back from parking, and then have him help you go through the check in if there is a line or if you can't do the self check in.

We are considering Disney in October. By then C could be in a convertible car seat. Can you check car seats at the check-in counter? I guess you would want to put their car seats in airplane seat. But is it frowned upon to not do that? Like could the baggage handlers destroy them? Also what is the cost to rent a car seat through rental car company? Not sure if it's worth the cost. Sorry lots of questions lol. bazingaa I thought about driving too then I was like what the heck am I thinking?! Security can sometimes be a nightmare at MCO, having both in a stroller/strollers could really help. Although I think you can take a stroller to the handicapped entrance.

This. I would see if someone can drop you off at the airport. Open your strollers, pile your stuff on, and then you each push a stroller and pull a suitcase. Even if you don't have enough hands for it all, it'll be fine once you get to the line. Get there as early as possible so you don't feel like you're holding everyone up if you're moving slow.
You can check in online before you go and either print your boarding passes or get them on your phone if the airline has that option, so only one of you has to stand in the line to check the bags and the other can stand back with the strollers and kids.
If you don't have someone to drop you off, you'll just unload everything and then you stand there by the door and watch the stuff while your H parks the car and then get in line when he comes back.
