cagoldi I'm sorry A was up coughing. It is the worst seeing them like that, and then they just aren't themselves the next day since they didn't get good sleep. I hope he has a better night tonight.
I saw V was up, too. Is she on breathing treatments? We are always on them, but I feel like they should help more than they do.
A also has not gained weight since his 9 month appointment. Or more accurately, he gained some, then lost it since he's been sick again several times in the last few months. My pedi didn't seem that worried, but I'm really concerned about this.
You know those little caps that go over the bolts on the bottom of the toilet? I fished one out of A's mouth once. Turned my back for half a second to run the water for his bath, turned around to find him chewing on that. Makes me gag just thinking about it.
OMG. M is OBSESSED with those. We finally just had to take them off and leave them off bc he won't leave them alone. I about gagged when I found him chewing on one. Gross, gross, gross.
My only comfort was knowing I had cleaned the bathroom very thoroughly that same afternoon, but still. Pete could only laugh when I told him because I gagged the whole way through the story.
Oh my god. Have you all seen the commercial for bleach where the little boy is mopping the bathroom.floor and the mom.sees him and is all like awww and then he sticks the mop in the toilet and keeps mopping the floor!?!? Ugh.

B loves those, too. He doesn't put them in his mouth, thankfully, but he'll come in carrying one and hand it to me like it is a really special gift. Gee, thanks.
Also, RE: the nanny situation, I wonder if you could find someone to do a nanny-share with? So he'd be with at least 1 other little...just a thought. I know that's still really different from a big classroom setting, so maybe not ideal. Sorry you're having to deal with this!
I've had a rough day at work today, my son is teething like crazy, and my mother in law is still here. I need a drink! My neighborhood mama friend is out of town and I don't drink around my MIL. Saturday can't come soon enough!

melaniesue05 Thanks. Have you heard anything about your uncle yet?
Nothing yet. We don't want to bug the cousins with calls since they are spending their last hours/days with their dad. My grandma kept calling and calling for updates on her brother. They finally answered and she has been inconsolable. Now we are worried about her. She's 92 and doesn't handle things well (not that the death of your last brother can be handled well). She tends to get really sick and needs to be medicated. She also has dementia. It's a mess.
@sing2phins Color me jealous. Glad you made the most of your surprise free time! I could use a mental health day, but this VP acts like you're asking her to donate a kidney when you request time off. Grrrrrrr.

We haven't been prescribed breathing treatments yet. I am going to ask when we see the pedi again. I'm sorry to hear you aren't seeing a lot of improvement using them though.
V only gained a few ounces in last 3 months. It is scary to see them gain and lose though. I'm sure it's normal but I would be concerned too. Every time V is sick the doctor tells me "don't be worried if she loses a little weight it doesn't eat for a few days as long as she takes fluids..." and I silently freak out.
@elvk583 Yes, see what the pedi says. They do help, it's just that he's been on so many for so long I would hope to see more improvement by now. We dropped his QVAR and Ventolin for two weeks and just had Singulair. I was optimistic, but once he got this cold a few weeks ago we had to pick them up again. We might have to start Pulmicort again.
chrisy01 V picks her nose and anyone else's nose she can get to. We are just moving her hand away and redirecting. It has been nasty lately sine her nose had been runny pretty much all winter.
Has anyone's LO started picking their nose? LO started putting his finger in his nose today, he's not picking it just putting the finger in there. I try to stop it but he keeps doing it.
chrisy01 I'm looking at my options, but not sure where I would find a family? Our friends with kids are either SAHM or don't live close enough to make it feasible. Hopefully something will pop up. I think if I could arrange something where he was around a kid fairly close to him in age, and at least one other child up to a few years older that would be great. Pete is receptive to looking around, so maybe we'll find an in home we like.
Nose picking, yes, often. One hand is always on his penis, and the other is pointing at something making demands, or in his nose or ear.
Today was a really long day. Neither DH nor I slept much at all last night between nurses and techs coming in his room all night long and I have been up running around nonstop helping to bring him things and get him situated. He is obviously very uncomfortable and sore and stiff, but is doing really great. He is doing much better than anyone, even the surgeons, expected him to, and so he was actually discharged home from the hospital this evening a day early! We are both so happy to be home, except he is missing the hospital bed and it's ease of sitting up and laying down. Right now the back of his head and neck are completely numb from a very long acting local anesthetic, and so I worry that he may start having a lot more pain when that wears off in the next day or two. However, he is still hopped up on all sorts of good drugs right now, so hopefully it won't be too bad. He had mentally prepared himself for the worst (and therefore had me mentally preparing for the worst as well), so is extremely satisfied with things right now. I did have to be on my game and get a little wordsy with two of his nurses though. One was his nurse in recovery yesterday and the other was his nurse today. They were extremely lazy, actively rude and argumentative, and entirely not helpful. Lets just say, that I am the wrong bitch to mess with. I will be as polite and thankful and docile as ever until you try start acting inconvenienced by your patients and your job, at which time I will put you in your place. Don't fuck with my husband. I am so exhausted but can't really sleep at the moment. I am just sort of processing everything. We are both so thankful that this issue was discovered before he ever developed any symptoms and that the surgery went so well. We both had so much anxiety leading up to it and now it is like a huge weight has been lifted. DH is snoring like a freight train and obviously I can't wake him up and tell him to roll over. I'm just happy he is sleeping soundly.
JEMandtheHolograms I can't wait to hear that your happy, healthy boy has arrived! Enjoy your time off work until he decides to make his debut! Living vicariously over here. tgrimes1980 and melaniesue05 I'm so sorry. T&Ps and hugs for both of you.
