Junie sleeps from about 8:30 pm to 2 ish. I feed her for a few minutes and put her back in her crib awake. She'll go right back to sleep and sleep til about 8 am. I'm pretty happy with all the sleep we're getting so I'm not pushing to drop the feed, even tho the ped said she doesn't need it.

The last few nights S will wake up once to eat. I don't mind it so I don't plan on weaning her off of it anytime soon. I figure eventually she will stop needing it.
I wouldn't mind night feeds if it were just one. But we are doing 5 right now and it's just a little much.
I read that one at this age is very normal and more than that is most likely a sleep association. Does your LO have five full feedings or are they snacks? That must be hard on you getting up that much.
For sure sleep associations. I was at a loss for how to get her to sleep from 3 months old onward and eventually realized that if I let her comfort feed, she would sleep. Now I think she's at a point where I can try to wean a few of those. I would say 3 of the feedings are full.
As far as me getting up that much, it's way tougher if she wakes me in the middle of a sleep cycle. I'm really starting to understand the way my cycles work based on when she wakes me. It seems like I go through one sleep cycle every hour and a half. So if she wakes me up at the end of one, I'm good to go. Lurking all the boards here help at night
Ferber recommends trying to stretch each feeding a half hour apart every night and to drop an oz each bottle (same # per night). We started at 6oz feedings every 2.5 hours and now tonight we are on 4 oz every 3.5 hours. Last night he only took about 8 oz total though. I'm struggling with stretching the time though. Is anyone else doing this?

I was going to say, that's all well and good but did he tell you how to stretch? Telling your baby that he/she can't have the milk he/she wants because it's not time yet doesn't sound like it will go over well.

Worst night ever! She was up every hour..... We ended up in our spare room upstairs so DH could sleep. We finally got a three hour stretch from 1-4... Oh and she woke up all smiles and cooing.... babies are pure evil sometimes....

Evil is a nice way to put it. lol.
I feel like we've regressed a bit over here as well. Mind you, we had company this weekend so i felt compelled to go into her nursery almost immediately when she started crying. The past few nights she's woken up 3 times wanting to nurse when it's usually only 1-2 times. Feeling like we might have to go back and retrain a little bit. Ugh.

Maybe DH will actually let me sleep train now...he wanted to wait until she was a little older as and I quote "she's just a baby!"
Stay strong mommas!! LO went down without even crying last night and slept from 7:10 - 6:25!!
So jealous!
For quite a while now, DD's bedtime has been 7:30pm. And she used to sleep until right around the time I needed her to get up to get her ready for the sitter (around 6:30am, give or take a few). These past couple of weeks, she seems to be waking up more like 5:30-6am and it throws my whole morning off. Do you all think I should maybe try putting her down a little earlier? Maybe start with 10 minutes earlier each night and do it gradually? Thoughts?

My Ped recommended pushing back her bedtime. I did the exact opposite and moved it earlier and she sleeps so much better. I just started putting her down 30 mins earlier I didn't do it gradually

She usually goes down around 7:30, but she was tired because she doesn't nap well on the weekends. Yesterday she did a 1 hour, 30 minutes then 40 minutes. The 6:25 wake up was a fluke - the past two weeks she has been up between 5:45 - 6. I was thankful for the extra time this morning because I made food for her this weekend and had about 6 ice cube trays full of food to put into ziploc bags and label.

Sounds like you've made some progress though!
That was the hard part. I was able to stretch it by about 15 mins by just rocking him a little. But I think the biggest difference has been not offering as much to eat overnight. Last night was great!! He took 7 oz at bedtime. I offered him 4 oz (and he took about 3.5) at 1030, and then at 1:30 he took another 4, and then slept until 7:30. Thats HUGE progress compared to the 18+oz he used to take overnight.

It's been over two weeks since we Ferberized and things are still going really well!
Baby is consistently getting 9.5 hours of solid sleep at night, which is so super mega awesome. His naps have been a little inconsistent lately, but he just popped out his first tooth, so I may chalk it up to that. Even still, he's napping about 3 hours a day total, and goes down without any crying (no crying at night, either), so I still call it a win, even if his naps aren't always perfectly on schedule (naps are supposed to be at 10am and 2pm, per Ferber, for a 7 month old).
I'm posting here our sleep chart that we've kept since we started so you can see how things went for us. I know some of you are considering the Ferber method, so maybe you'll find this helpful
*the "N" on the chart is for when I MOTN nursed (I was night weaning during this process). You can see that on day ten he probably could have gone without it since nursing just woke him up way earlier than it should have and messed up the day. Live and learn
Did anyone have any set backs? Last night he only got up twice and slept from 1:30-7:30. Tonight he has been up every 2.5 hours and is currently sitting up in his crib after the second check in. Every other time he would be asleep by now. I fed and changed him about an hour ago. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.
He was crying and reaching for the side of the crib. I ended up giving him another bottle and he fell asleep. Im assuming he was still hungry. This whole weaning this has been tough! One night he is ok with only 8 oz over night, and last night he took 12oz. Nothing was different during the day.
Oh no. I never had to wean him from the middle of the night feeding. He just did it on his own. He probably was still Hungry. My child won't got to sleep unless his stomach is super full! He's a chunker.
So is mine! One night he is ok with less and then some nights he wants more. Its hard to know if he is hungry or if he just wants the comfort of the bottle.
Lola my lo literally eats from 6-7:30 haha we feed him veggies at dinner with us then some puffs to keep him busy while we clean up. Then he eats oatmeal mixed with fruit to help his reflux. Then he has a huge 8 oz bottle. It seems like so much food but if he doesn't get that much he won't go to sleep because he's still I hungry. It's insane!! But he's sleeping through the night now so I'm thinking pigging out before bed is his way of staying full all night.

What a horrible night. C went to bed no problems and then woke up at midnight. We have been doing our checking intervals for over an hour and half... ( i checked diaper, temperature, ect too) GO TO SLEEP CHILD!

I'm so sorry. Poor baby and mommy. Last time LO cried for longer than usual, I fed him and he went to sleep. But maybe C is cutting new teeth or something? I hope everyone gets sleep soon.

This was us two nights ago. WTF! We finally got her down at 2 and the she was up again at 4:30. If she wakes up after 4 I'll give her a feeding but not a 12!! I think it's because we lowered the mattress but we also had her up until 7:45 which is a little later that normal. Last night I out her to bed at 6:30 (a little earlier than normal) and she slept straight through until 5:30 so maybe the earlier bedtime is key. I don't really know anything though.

It's funny you mention the bedtime! She was in such a good mood and stayed up till 8 playing with DH. She normally goes to bed between 7-7:30.... She finally fell asleep at 1:45 and was up at 5:45 to eat and then woke up for the day at 8:15.

Night 1 of sleep training for us. She freaked out for a little bit but now, 18 minutes (and only 1 check) later, she's asleep. We're hoping she does this well the rest of the night (but not getting our hopes too high.)
Thanks for all your success stories. They've been the encouragement I've needed.

It went so well. She woke up half an hour in but I only had to check twice before she settled. Then we had 4 scheduled times where I woke her up as part of her weaning schedule but no surprise wakeups.
The best part is, I never reinserted her paci after she spit it out and she fell asleep without it.
I put her down anytime between 6-6:45 depending on when she has napped/how tired she seems. I read somewhere it can be better to make sure they don't get over tired than to stick to a strict schedule, she seems to sleep the same regardless.
She wakes 2-3 times to eat. It's a pain but she is s real distracted nurser during the day so I think it's when she gets a lot of her calories. She is perfectly good at putting herself to sleep and always goes to sleep initially on her own without us having to rock her or anything so I am hoping it will get better with time.
