I would be fine with it. As a former lurker I would also expect a group of lurkers to appear before it went private, so I guess it would have to be decided how that is handled.
Sure, I'm not the most active poster, but I hope I would be allowed to join. I would love to post more often but I don't have my smart phone at the moment and I don't always have access to the computer. Once I get my phone back I will become more active since I kind of came out of lurkdom when we moved.
The lurker in me feels sort of bad closing the door but I agree that, at this point, a private board would be nice. I dont feel too strongly either way but lean towards private. I'm sure our lurkers are very sweet, shy people but, if they were going to participate, they probably would have already.
I'm going to post all sorts of outrageous stuff if we go private! You are going to get to read all the sordid details of how much coffee I'm drinking and how long lo slept Hot stuff

I'm one of the big over sharers on this board, so private is 100% good with me.
And I think any lurkers are a bit weird if they haven't popped up by now. How, in all this time, would you have not wanted to comment on something by now???

I haven't been able to post much lately but a private board sounds like a good idea to me..I agree about lurkers from here out though...if you haven't made yourself known by now then I don't know why you'd want to be a part of the community now.
I would think anyone who has posted here ("here" meaning ProBoards F14) would be allowed to join. I don't think we need an eligibility quiz or anything. We don't have to decide that right now. I'm sure that's a big discussion/debate we can have if/when the time comes.
But, lurkers, here's your big chance -- come out now! Or forever hold your peace.
I am very curious as to whether I would pass this hypothetical eligibility quiz. I am picturing a cross between a citizenship test with lots of f14 history and our daily buzzfeed quizzes with random questions about my favorite cat picture.
I'm ok with it although it bugs me a bit to think there are some shy or busy or whatever people who might get left out. I think that on the whole it would make me more comfortable. Would be still be able to be googled?
