I have a question, I made some sweet potato puree last night, but I must have been tired because the sweet potato wasn't fully cooked when I pureed it and now it's really chunky and LO really doesn't like it. What can I do to soften it some more so he'll eat it?
I also bought the puffs, but LO has no interest in feeding himself (he grabs a puff, but hasn't figured out how to let it go into his mouth), so I just feed him one at a time.
Try putting it through the food processor again and see if that works! Maybe add a little water or breast milk!
surfmama106 - the haaaaaaair!! It makes her look like such a little person! Okay - so it's okay to do puffs without the crawling?? Punks has had plenty of different food and foods in the mesh feeder (which I hate by the way - they never get clean!!), and I've been eyeballing them but not brave enough. I keep thinking I'm ready to give her food, but the fear IS real ya'll!!!

Edit: by food I mean solids other than purees.
Try out the puffs.. You eat one at the same time. Exaggerate chewing when you do it! That's what we did. He gagged one time and then learned to chew fairly quickly.

I just got some at the store, I'll give that a go! I'm excited, I'd like to be over purees asap.

Lo loves her puffs but gets so mad when I try to do BLW. I gave her a banana and it was world ending until I pureed it and fed it to her. I guess I'll keep up with the puffs and try again in a week or so with blw...
We are still doing puffs and purées. But when I feed him he takes the spoon from me and puts it in his mouth. And all over his face/hands/chest. We are going to start BLW this week.

The only thing DD will eat so far is puffs and if she's in a good mood she will eat some oatmeal cereal. So far she hates the purees I make and will barely eat a couple of bites. So today I tried BLW with some sweet potato pieces and that was still a no go. I gave her an apple slice to gnaw on (no teeth yet) and she really likes that, but at one point she managed to get a chunk off that I had to fish out of her mouth so that made me nervous. This girl may be drinking BM until she is five at the rate she's going.
@sharmon13 - puffs are a big fail so far. How long does it take for them to grasp that they stick it in their mouths? She's got the spoon down (at least that it goes in her mouth, not so much with the food still on it), but the puffs just keep getting stuck to her paws. lol
Ever since LO started having solids regularly, she has been a poop machine. 3-4 dirty diapers/day, up from 1-3/week! Is anyone else experiencing that? Is it just her body learning how to handle the solids, or is it an adverse reaction to something?

Well she loves bananas but i try not to give it to her every day. I have mixed banana and green beans. Carrots and pears or apple. Last night she had sweet potato and plum. I make my own food and freeze them in ice cube trays, she normally only has 2 cubes but wanted more on Sunday night so last night I did 2 cubes of sweet potato and one plum. I don't really have any rhyme or reason to the mixtures. I may mix butternut squash with plum sometime this week to. (Plum is new so I'm going to be doing it for a few days.).
If you go to wholesome baby food and pick your food they give suggestions at the bottom of things to mix. Click here
We started with the Ellas puree pouches. I started making my own using the same combinations. I do put cinnamon with the butternut squash. www.ellaskitchen.com/our-products/
Our doctor said we should start throwing meat in at 6 months (but we hadn't even done much purees at all prior to 6 months...) So far I've just bought little baby food jars of turkey & gravy, beef & gravy, and chicken & gravy. LO did NOT like the turkey. At. All. He also wasn't too thrilled with the beef. It mostly sat off his tongue then slowly dripped off in a nasty mess.
The dogs were pretty thrilled with this, though. Even the cat liked the baby food more than the baby.

So I gave DD mango tonight. It's her first fruit since we can't do banana, apple, or pear due to allergies. You might have thought I gave her a lemon by the way she puckered. It was adorable.

We tried mango and had the same reaction! It was so cute but he wouldn't eat it. He'll eat it mixed with oatmeal though!

I had to mix mine with a little yellow squash at first to take the sour edge off.
