Ugh the nipples. They burn. Homegirl would not open her mouth for her overnight feeds. She treated my nipples like strands of spaghetti, slurping them into her little mouth.
Also only getting a max of one ounce per side when I pump, no matter how long it's been since a feeding. Very discouraging because eventually I'll need at least 2 days of back up stash.
We're struggling here. When M got sick and had a sore throat he would latch for just a little bit, but would stop due to pain. Tylenol helped some but he really liked a cold bottle. Now after he has stopped showing signs of a sore throat he still won't latch. Am I going to be an EPer now?

After the two week appointment (where I learned my LO isn't gaining), I have to switch from EBF to EP for a month and feed every 2 hours. Any tips? I'm a little overwhelmed at the logistics of pumping...

This is my life of EP. It makes me sad but I keep going because "even a little bit of breastmilk is better than no breastmilk."

Welcome to the EP trap. Sounds obvious but make sure you pump is on a high enough setting. After a couple weeks I decided to crank it up and started getting more in almost half the time. I have my best results in the morning (right now about 8oz and 4-5oz the rest of the day), so I make sure I have time for this - usually DH takes care of the morning feed/diapers before work which really helps. Baby is sleeping pretty well at night now, so I've mostly traded my daytime naps for pumping while he naps.
Well I saw the LC which was very helpful. Turns out E has a significant tongue tie, which was apparently missed by the 3 LCs I saw in the hospital?! Between that and my oversupply he managed to gain weight ok until this week, he has lost weight. My LC and pediatrician are not on the same page however. LC wants me to feed on demand and that excessive spit up is due to tongue tie, and pedi says spit up is due to too frequent feeds. LC referred me to a regular pediatrician that frequently deals with tongue ties and BF problems, but my ped referred me to an ENT. I went with the ENT just so I could get in faster, but quite honestly I trust the LC more regarding this, so I hope it was the right choice.
I've been an emotional wreck because we've needlessly suffered through the last 5 weeks. If it weren't for mastitis and thrush I probably wouldn't have seen the LC today, and LO would have lost weight. LC said we caught it just in time. And DH is being an insensitive asshole today whose version of helping is actually the opposite of helpful. Ill spare you the whiney details because I'm toi lazy to type it out on my phone. I want to crawl under a rock.
I would say they tingle/burn sometimes and the breast is stabby sometimes. Not rosy. And this is only on occasion. It's been like this for over a month. When I asked the LC about it she said it was likely that my breasts were full. If it happens it's usually close to a feeding time.

This is my life. One lc I talked to said the stabby pain in the breast can be from your body trying to keep up with demand, like with cluster feeding. But I know my nipples are killing me because even one bad latch and my nipples are cracked open :/.
My real question is why is my baby trying to rip my nipple off on the right side? Is it my let down being crazy? He also likes to thrash his head around while he pulls back. I am not a rubber band last I checked.
So things have gotten better from this morning for us. M wouldn't latch at all this morning. We've had twice today when he's latched for about 10 minutes. It's not a ton, but it's progress!

I don't know.... that's how I felt and then it suddenly got like 50000x worse.... it was more burn than tingling though.

yes, my baby does this too, mt LC said it was because shes trying to get th milk to come out faster due to me supplementing. She got used to the bottles fast flow and when the milk tickles down to the hindmilk she wants it fast. I don't have this problem when she first latches on the foremilk comes out quickly enough for the princesses liking... I feel like a milk machine... (face palm)

I get this randomly when I'm not nursing, it's a tingly burning sensation and only lasts a few seconds. Feels exactly like my let down so I just assume it's my milk doing milky boob things. Doesn't feel like the stabby shooting pain that is thrush.
So I just found out I have a UTI (can't feel it due to bladder sensation loss (small favors)) and they prescribed antibiotics. My question is will the antibiotics increase my risk of thrush and if so are there any precautions I can take to prevent it.

Start taking a probiotic. You can purchase them over the counter.

MY POOR NIPPLES. So tempted to open some cows milk for this kid. OMG every hour he wants nothing, but my boob. I feel like the right one is gonna roll off and hide under the damn couch any minute. *insert ugly cry face here!*
@biblio - Hang in there!! We're in week 6, and I don't want to say it's over, but I think her growth spurt might be slowing down because she's been swinging for 20 minutes. This was impossible last night, and all the nights from week 4 till now. Her shirt said it all:
