Tonight Dad tried to do a bottle so I could get a rest. That didn't pan out well and here I am with a baby comforting on the boob. lets sleep an hour or so soon...please.
For those doing a bottle of pumped milk: how much is your little one taking in s feeding? What's their age? My girl is 8 days and I'm wondering if we didn't give her enough?
I'm also still waking her to feed every two in the day and every three at night. Here's hoping tomorrow's appointment allows 3 hr day stretches and s 4 hour break a night. I'm a bit of a zombie. And I get so confused how to count some of the extra feedings.
For pumped breastmilk in a bottle our ped said to give her 90ml, she is 17 days old but I find it is sometimes too much for her, just now for her 7am feed she drank about 50 ml and fell asleep.
Question --> do your little ones also love stuffing their hands in their mouth?? She always does this when she is hungry, what I've read online it is something older babies do?
Feeding from 12:30am to 3 and then up again at 4:30. I caved and gave her a pacifier and we got a couple hours of sleep before dd#1 got up. Baby is still asleep. I have a terrible head cold and my parents are leaving today so I am a mess of emotions this morning. Every day is one step closer to being done with the newborn stage and closer to fun baby stage, right? I hope today is a good day for everyone else.

This is what we do, I pump a couple times a day after I nurse so DH can feed her once at night (that is, when said DH wakes up...). DD is 7 days old and drinks about 2 oz every 2 hours. I figure that's enough, bc I pumped from a breast that was extremely full and that's what I got out of it. I'm still feeding every 1.5-2 hours during the day and 2.5-3 hours a night too. I is ded.
What does a clogged duct feel like? I feel like I have a painful bruise on one side of a boob. I'm not certain if it's a clogged duct, general soreness, or of I actually managed to bruise my boob when squeezing to express more milk to keep Miles awake. TIA

DS would do this even as a newborn. Totally normal.

Is it wrong that I've been nursing completely on demand? His weight is good and he's been cluster feeding like crazy so when he decides to sleep for 4 hour stretches I don't bother to wake him. Is that ok or will it mess up my supply? Mama needs sleep.

If there is no weight gain issues, that is what I do. My doctor has never told me to wake to eat at night but neither kid had weight gain issues.

That seems like a lot. E is just over 6lbs and gets 52ml when I'm not here.
sorry, I haven't read all yet, but a question came up. Brewers yeast vs nutritional? I bought a huge tub of nutritional yeast thinking it was what I needed, but the all the recipes are calling for brewers yeast, I know there is a difference, but does it really matter? Opinions?

I think so too! When we have given her that full amount she ends up spitting up a lot !! I prefer to give her smaller quantities more frequently.

Since he started gaining weight after he came home I've nursed on demand. There's no reason to wake a sleeping baby to eat, especially if they're stubborn like all my children and won't even try to eat if they aren't hungry.

Not at all. If weight gain and all is good take that sleep.

This is a good question. I bought Brewers yeast and it says "Brewers nutritional yeast" I was wondering if that meant nutritional yeast and Brewers yeast were the same.

My uneducated guess would be that they're different because vegan recipes will use nutritional yeast as a cheese substitute and I can't imagine doing that with brewer's yeast. But I'm not sure. My Brewer's yeast is definitely different in color than the nutritional yeast my mom would use though.
Maybe since yours is Brewer's nutritional yeast that's different from plain nutritional yeast? The plain one was bright yellow, but my Brewer's yeast is a pale tan color.
I'll have to take a closer look. It's been awhile since I've bought nutritional yeast but I thought they were the same color. I could be wrong.
The cheesy flavor is a difference that I have noted online, but there is nothing confirming whether it is a glactactagogoue. I could take her word for it, I guess.

Omg I'm such an idiot. The hospital sent me home with a hand pump. Why didn't I think of this before? Brb, going to try it out and see if it works better than my crap electric pump.

At 6 days old L will only take 20-35 ml every 3-4 hrs. Most nights we have 4 hour stretches.
LC came back today to show me suck training for O since he got his frenotomy. I've already seen so much improvement. She gave me this feeder with a little straw on it to help with the training but my coordination is shit so I'll probably end up just doing the finger suck training. She had me pump some milk for it and I pumped for 1 1/2 minutes and got 3 ounces total. She was praising my supply, but it definitely could bite me in the long run if we get lazy with training. I'm pretty much just handing him his milk without him having to do much work for it, so we have a lot of work to do!
It can improve really fast. L would latch and not suck. Once his tongue tie was fixed he learned to correctly suck within the day. So instead of expressing and spoon feeding, he will now nurse until he is overful. It took about 3 days total, but we even have lost the nipple shield unless I'm too engorged.

I am so jealous of the 4 hour stretches. We seemed to be able to do that for a night or 2, but now we are back to 2 hour stretches at night.

The spit up is out of control! My goodness. I think she's into the sucking and overeating? Sometimes she's choking on the boob. Poor thing is a faucet today!

I have the same issue. He chokes at least a couple times during every feeding, lots of spit up, etc. His mouth even had a bile like smell last night. I seem to be more bothered by it than he is.
Is there a certain feeding that everyone dislikes? Mine is definitely the one right before bed time. She gets lazy, pops on and off the breast, piches/pulls and generally keeps her hands in the way, falls asleep then wakes up when I take her off and generally just uses me as a pacifier. It is the feeding I start to resent. She also shakes her head like she can't find it. I wish she would take a pacifier just so I can get a break from her on/off/other issues.

This stuff is hard.
My hardest is around 3/4am. I'm so tired and often if it's 4 when we start, the daylight is starting to appear as I finally crawl back to bed.
