lilyelayne I was thinking about your pumping issues. Would LO let you pump with the electronic or manual pump while he nurses? Electric would be easier because you could do hands free on the pump side to keep both hands free to wrangle LO.
On the practice bottle I think you could switch to a faster flow nipple as a way to indicate to him that there's free milk here. Still pace feed. I think at this point he's unlikely to abandon nursing for the bottle even if the bottle is easier.
Has he been waking up at night a lot or just the once? I know you said he used to sleep through the night so hopefully he'll self night wean by then and sleep. The bottle of water has been recommended by several friends for night weaning as a way to teach their babies that there's nothing worth waking up for. It appears to have mixed success.
When I was responding to the manual pump I tried nursing one side & pumping the other, but DS just wanted to sit up and play with the pump. I didn't try electric because I assumed the additional noise would only exacerbate that problem. So it ended up being me nursing until let down, putting DS down, pumping the other side, then picking DS up and nursing. Now I just nurse him one side, put him down, and hand express the other side.
DH claims the bottle is getting easier & DS is drinking from it more readily. I'm not really worried about a bottle preference anymore, so if progress stops I'll try a higher nipple flow.
He wakes 1-2x a night. Generally somewhere between 1230-130 and again between 4-530. If he skips, it's the 130 wake up. I figure he'll self night wean when he's ready. He STTN from 2mo to 6mo without any sleep training. He'll do it again. One day
My baby is asleep, and DH is playing video games with a friend. Time to work on my novel. 35,000 words written. 15,000 to go!
Have I told you lately how amazing you are? Because you are!
I would like to second this. I don't know how you find the energy. I'm thinking of going back to school and just thinking about how I'm going to balance out my schedule is stressing me out.

Thanks! It helps that it's only a month. It also helps that it's an annual thing so I have the rest of the year to recover / get excited again. Also my H is super supportive of my NaNo. No way I could do it without him.
What are you thinking about going back to school for? Would you do school full time or around your work schedule?
I will probably definitely bitch more about this later, but visas are ridiculous and annoying. I finished G's and my application last night to try to get an appointment today. No dice online. I'll be calling to see a) if they can let us have an appointment and pay, b) when the next appointment date is, and/or c) what we do if G and I have to go back to the US and submit the application there. I will be pulling the 'we have an under 1 year old' card on the phone to get the additional help.
We have a plan that may work. Basically, I should apply stateside because there are more appointments available and they do those by visa type. They say that it should be a pretty quick turnaround due to the type of visa, so that's good. We might be able to arrange to be arrive together or at least within a couple of weeks.
And it looks like I'll be in NOVA mid- to late January, so that will be fun.

Glad to hear you have a plan.
Yeah, we spent lunch hammering one out. It'll be a bit of a stressful holiday season, but what are you going to do?

But I'm in the front seat (woo car sickness) and DH and my dad are in the back, so I'm doing my best to pretend I don't hear him fussing so I don't dissolve into anxiety. Also kinda enjoying it being Not My Problem.
Hey everyone...I'm back on proboards after a few months! We moved my computer out of LO's playroom and it took a while to get it working again/get internet up in the guest room, ect. I hope everyone has been well. I've been on the facebook group a bunch, so keeping up with those ladies.
lilyelayne, We are good! LO has 2 teeth now, so that's exciting. He is still not sttn or in his crib, but we are working on getting him to fall asleep without being rocked or nursed. I made it through a 10 dat work trip to China without him in October. It sucked, but its over

I was wondering how your China trip went! Did you want to never let him go when you got home? How was pumping on the plane?
flyster glad your trip went well! DS isn't STTN either so don't feel alone on that front. We're doing well. DS is working on tooth #6 his favorite thing to do is pull up on everything. We've been out of town this weekend & are about to head back home, so hoping he has a pleasant day in his car seat. Other than that, just holiday craziness over here

Also hi I am glad you are back around here
Pumping on the plane went well actually. I was lucky and both there and back the middle seat was empty, so it was pretty easy. Also my coworker gave me a bettery attachment so I could use that...came in handy when my power converter didn't work and fried my pump cord! The same coworker was super nice and gave me hers when I got back. She's done having kids now, so was going to throw it out.
It was so good to see him when I got back! And now he sleeps in our bed, because I didn't want to let him go, lol. Crib training right out the window, although really it never went all that well. He kept my MIL up ALOT. She had plans for helping to fix up the house, paint, ect, but ended up sleeping during the day. She did go shopping a bunch so I got home and LO has half a new wardrobe : )
