Thanks guise. I knew that's what everyone would say. We've been picking him up since neither of us can sleep through the fussing anyway, but that means he ends up sleeping on one of our chests all night, which is something I said I'd never do for safety reasons. So I'm thinking I need to man up and just listen to him make noise.
Is he sleeping in your room? If so, have you considered moving him to the nursery? We moved DD1 to her own room much earlier than planned because neither of us were getting any sleep with the little noises she was making all night; it was a great decision for us. We couldn't hear those noises over the monitor, only the actual cries, especially when she had the white noise going.
I agree with this. I did the same thing with ds2 and it was amazing.
I am always so half asleep, if I hear him I just grab him to feed, with out looking at what time it is or even realizing I could of fed him 20 mins ago. But I don't want him waking DH (he is in school full time and works full time he needs his rest) so I think I am almost to the point of doing this now.

Yep he has been sleeping in the pack n play (which H drags from the living room to the bedroom every damn night. Such a PITA). I always said he'd be in his nursery from day one, but he has yet to sleep in there. I think it's time.
Dooooo itttt. We moved Lo into her room.from the second night we were home. Babies are NOISY sleepers.
MOTN: When they are grunting/ not quite fussing but almost, do you leave them in the crib or pick them up? Or I guess a better question is, at what point do you pick them up?
I don't pick her up until she is actually crying. I have found that she has been able to go back to sleep or self sooth a lot of the time right when it sounds like she is on the verge of crying.
Same. Unless it's like 5:30 am - then I get her up so I can feed her and go back to sleep before her sister gets up. Her noises keep me up!

Agreed. Lucy is still in our room, but further away - kind of around a corner by the bathroom so I don't hear her as well.
Babies keep peeing through their diapers to the sheets. We have to wake them to fed every 4 hours, so that's when we change them.
Should we really be waking them much earlier to change and then try to get them back to sleep? They are great sleepers, but I worried about waking them so much.

What size diaper are they in? Any chance they are ready for the next size? As an alternative to waking them you could try layering a second diaper over the first.
They are both in preemie size pampers swaddlers.
Keira could probably go up to newborn (she's in newborn clothes), but her legs are sooo skinny that when they would put her in nb in the NICU, it would all come out the leg holes.

Gracie has been in preemie size and while they still fit well, the absorbancy is definitely crappy and she's leaking out too (she takes about 3 oz per feeding). I'd try going up a size if you can, I think every 3-4 hours per changing is reasonable and no one wants to mess with sleep!

That's exactly us. They each take 2-3 oz per feeding and we are having to change their clothes, blankets and sheets every couple of feedings because they went through the diaper. I'll man up and try her in the nb size. T is still too tiny for them, he's only 4lbs 8oz.
We have bathed them since they came home 5 days ago... and no clue when their last bath was in the NICU. They still have the new baby smell though
Anyone have advice for bathing preemies? T is still under 5lbs and K is barely over 5. I'm scared to wash them!
I don't know about preemies, but the first couple times I washed our little one it was more of a sponge bath where I took sections and washed them while my husband held her and had the rest of her wrapped up in a towel. As soon as we are done we immediately do skin to skin since she had a temperature drop after her bath in the hospital.

kbrooke06, F is not a preemie but we still do sponge baths. I wrap her in a towel and just wipe her down with a wash cloth. This lets me wipe and dry as I go so F does not get cold.
Baby wearing mamas: when at home and wearing your LO, are you in clothing? Or topless/in a bra (meow) for extra skin to skin? Does it matter at that point?

With Lo, I was in a nursing tank 99% of the time so we'd be skin to skin for some? Her face was always against my bare neck/chest.

I wore a shirt. I was usually vacuuming or cooking while wearing DD. Those seem like odd activities to do topless....

Lol. I was mostly considering cruising around in a bra but that does still seem weird despite how much I love my rack. All this skin to skin talk being so important and everything I'm just happy to know I can wear a top.
nobb14 I've done it both ways depending on the temperature in my house. I'm using a K'tan and find it comfortable in just a bra.
Amazing! Good to know. I have a ktan too and the thought really struck me when I did a trial run. It seemed like it could be comfortable in just a bra around the house, if I felt too hot in a top!
Squishy I think I'm just feeling neurotic about bonding with baby. I am a ok with simply accessorizing with baby! (Totally slaughtered that spelling)
You'll bond. You are going to be a great mom. Is baby here yet?
No. It looks like BM will need a c section after her transfusion if she doesn't get dilated further/enough for him to break her water. It's killing me.

So DS's umbilical stump fell off but inside his belly button it's all gunky and nasty. DD's wasn't like this at all.
Am I supposed to clean it with soap and water? Alcohol?
Same!! Lucy's looks like it still has a piece inside - not just goop. Addie's wasn't this way. I am taking Lucy to the doctor tomorrow for a weight check, so I'm going to ask. It's kinda gross!

Let me know what they say! There's this weird white thing inside that wouldn't come out with water/qtip... It's weird... We don't have an appt until Thursday.

Dr says to use alcohol on Lucy's belly button. There is still a piece inside that needs to dry out & fall off. We are supposed to go back Friday to have them put silver oxide on it if alcohol doesn't work.
