Good luck sccurrier and xoxolicia and others having breast feeding struggles! I am having a more challenging time with ds2 and it is frustrating but getting better at 3 weeks.
Re pumping, I think a hands free bra (I just cut holes in an old one) is essential. Also turning the speed and suction up as high as you can stand at first to get let down and then turning it down and up again. (I never realized this with my first but we were supplementing roughly half). I want to try nursing one side and pumping the other to see if I can get more that way.
Also you can buy fennel seeds, crush them (Baggie and hammer maybe?) and steep them in boiling water for lactation tea or buy mothers milk tea online. An LC told me you need 3-5 cups/day.
Ah, I forgot I bought fennel oil. LO refuses to latch on the right side, but is doing great on the left. I have milk on one side and colostrum on the other. Luckily, I get my pump tomorrow. She's also peeing and sleeping much better since adding formula. DH took me shopping today. It's been a really good day. I hope tonight goes well.

I'm glad she's doing so much better. And yay for getting your pump. With my first, it really freaked me out before I started using it. I was weirdly afraid it would electrocute me or something. Now it's super easy and it's nice getting a small break from a tiny human sucking on me.
Can someone tell me what I'm up to? Sorry I'm a pita

LO surprised me by wanting to breastfeed twice today. Not that he actually got much out of my now saggy boobs. I felt very sad when he rejected my boobs after 10 mins and then proceeded to cry for a bottle. The pump won after all. Oh well, I'm over it now. As long as he's growing well, I shall have no objections.
On better news, I produced 16oz yesterday, that's my highest production day so far. But no, today I'm not making as much. Off to pump again...
Midwest as well! Mine is making faces after feeding so I'm waiting him out to change his diaper. I've had to use a nipple shield on my right boob because of its shape. Why does this make me feel like a failure?

don't! It's awesome you're finding a way to make it work.
Absolutely! I am using one too.
West coast here. LO has been up for 3 hours and will not go the fuck to sleep.
@holachica omg that is terrible! Poor guy. Like we don't have enough to worry about to add that type of fear on...
kcrosemaggiebug thank you so much for responding. My husband keeps telling me I am making it work and feeding him and it doesn't matter how but hearing other moms using the shield too makes me feel his words are even more true. I don't know why I'm putting so much pressure on myself.
Oh and H keeps having nightmares that we fell asleep with DS in bed with us. He wants up and frantically wakes me up. It's real annoying and it has happened the past 3 nights.
We've had lots of those nightmares, including one where DS was trapped in the blankets and falling off the side of the bed. I got my husband up to help me get him because I couldn't find LO in the blankets before DH realized that LO was sleeping in his crib. DH has woken up freaking out about where LO is. We no longer do nurse in bed at night for this reason and try to comfort LO to sleep outside of the bed, even though he's like a little koala bear and wants to sleep on our chests. The dreams are just too freaky.

Nothing wrong with the shield at all. I wish I had known about it right from the start. It would have saved me so much nipple pain the first week. The LC gave me the shield on my 2nd night stay when I showed her how my nipples were cracked and bloody. Even the tight ass LCs approved it, use it wisely! I use it still on both sides on rare occasion that LO wants to BF.
I think LO has really bad gas and tumy discomfort all day and night. He makes a lot of noises about an hour into his sleep thennwakes up crying and inconsolable until he passes gas. I was using Tommee Tippee bottles before, today I'm trying the Dr Brown ones. Soooo many parts to clean, they'd better save my LO.
This is the 4thbday that I said I'll go to the grocery store. I guess I really need to get out of these PJs and actually go instead of thinking about going. I shall pick up another pack of red velvet oreos as a reward.
The plan today is to get supplies for those lactaion teas and cookies. I'm desperate, yo!

Lay him on his left side (not while sleeping). That's supposed to help the digestive system move along. It seems to be working for us. Kiddo has so much gas and his farts rival his dads.

I need to go to the grocery store too. It's amazing how much of a person I feel like just putting on a bra.

Oh god, mine passes gas like nobody's business! I've never heard farts quite that lengthy before his arrival. He was farting it up in his sleep last night. So noisy that I was considering transitioning him to his nusery soon.

Wait, you're able to go braless without the pain and milk shooting out everywhere?

The hospital we delivered at sends a home nurse to you for 4 visits and ours just came by and we asked the same thing. Seconding misshart00 on the left side and then the nurse said to tuck/bring his knees to his chest and pat his bottom.
Anyone get super bad heartburn again at 41w+3 days.... Anyone get to 41w+3 days .... Fml
Didn't reach 39 weeks here. I feel bad for you when so many of us are talking about outside babies. When is your induction? I hope you get to meet your LO soon!!!

PikoPiko runs off to fart the Little. (There's "burping the baby" after you feed, the same grammatical structure shall apply to farting too)
