TBH, go minivan. They are just so convenient with little kids. I open the door from inside the house and my children go and get themselves in and buckled while I lock the house. Then I just check buckles and off we go
You're right we probably will. I just worry about it being too much car if we don't end up having three. I admit we've looked at the odyssey and I love how spacious and plush it feels. Alternatively, we may go with showing along the lines of the audi allroad so we can stay car-sized but still carry two kids and our dog.
We rented a van when we went on vacation with just one. It was amazing! They're so spacious and fit all the crap you have to take. We just bought a van so we have it for this one (#3).

We got a Jeep Compass a year and a half ago. At the time we weren't thinking 3 kids. Now that 3 kids is a reality, we don't really have the means for a new car at this point so I am stuck trying to work out three across the back. I think I'll have to get DS a Diono Radian and then retire our old giant-sized Snugride 35 for a smaller bucket seat for this new bean. Luckily, DD is in a high-back booster so I think her seat is okay. Needless to say, I wish we went minivan.
liljackjack this is my fear! I'm now at my work computer and googled "do I need a minivan". There are some very funny and honest articles referring to three row SUVs as "minivan avoidance machines". Made me laugh.

To be honest, we do really need something with 4WD. We live on a small street and we don't get plowed by the city unless there is 12+ inches of snow. At the time, we were on a budget, DH had just totaled his car so we went for the SUV. At this moment, we owe $10k more than it's worth (I commute 70 miles a day so we already racked up 30k miles on it) so we can't trade it in - so no choice but to make it work. We could always trade in H's car (a 2010 Ford Fusion), but we wouldn't get much for it as he has even a longer commute and it has 120,000 miles, and we don't want two car payments. In other words... doooo the minivan LOL
I got a giant 5 seater SUV. The Nissan Murano. It just fits in the garage, and will fit 3 across the back if need be. DS is only 3 years away from front seat eligibility (if he weighs enough) so that will make things easier. I guess the real trick to avoiding a mini-van is having kids every ten years...

If you have to make it work, I've read the cybex and maxi cosi infant seats are very compact. If we hold out a few more years for the minivan we may buy the cybex because we think it's the only seat we can fit behind the driver seat. Very pricey, but cheaper than a new car.
I think I've caught the insomnia bug. Usually I wake up to pee then fall right back asleep, but last night I was up from 3-6. Finally fell back asleep just before my alarm went off.

I found this site to be helpful - in case you are ever in my situation It basically goes through a ton of different model cars and which car seats will fit 3 across.
We have had a minivan since shortly before DS2 was born and I have never felt like it was too much car. We are tall people with tall kids and we like to ERF until at least 3, so we really need the extra room
fishchicks - Everytime I see your name, I think "fish sticks" and then I'm instantly craving some!
Sorry 'bout that! I have a large aquarium as a hobby, so I wanted something fish related. Didn't mean to cause any cravings, though!
No worries Do you do fresh or salt water? I had a ton of goldfish growing up and had a chance to have a salt water tank for a few years when my dad's colleague retired overseas and couldn't bring it back with him. We thought it was going to take a lot of work but it wasn't bad!

We have a GMC Acadia and it has the 3rd row. It also has the captain's seats in the 2nd row like a minivan so it's minivanish without being a minivan
My symptoms were so much better yesterday and it worries me a bit but this morning is bad and I almost threw up changing DD's explosive diaper. At least she said 'thank you' afterwards and made it all better.
sarcaztic10 I had rats as pets when I was younger. Loved them! There are great pets! Way better than hamsters lol!
I was so excited to find the heartbeat last night that I couldn't sleep for a while after that. Probably shouldn't have checked it right before bed, now I'm so tired. But I saved an audio file on my phone so it's been nice to listen to it throughout the day.
DD1 did great at the eye doctor. Her eyes aren't 100% perfect but they aren't recommending glasses yet. So that was good! But after that I'm already wishing I could take a nap.

That's a fun way to get into saltwater tanks! Mine is salt. 200 gallons, that I custom designed for the main room in our "forever" house. Sadly we sold that house 3 years ago. At least the tank fits in the new house, although it no longer matches the kitchen cabinetry.
Good lucky today Remy and Youdontsay - update us when you're each done.
H and I got a new vehicle last night. Pretty stoked about it...but my friend did ask me what we'd do if we found out we were having multiples (I've had dreams about it this time around). Boy, wouldn't that complicate things. Lol We're banking on their being a singleton in there. Can't wait for my first appointment and it's still more than a week away. Sigh
Ooh I love new cars. What did you get? We are having a car dilemma of our own. We have a forester and a tiny car. Tiny car is not going to fit two car seats in the back. Every day we're back and forth between new suv or minivan. And what if we decide to have a third? Goodness, it's a struggle.
We got a Ford Edge. We're pretty excited about it. We upgraded from the smallest class SUV there is. We debated going the minivan route too, but this is a better fit for us. We also have a tiny car, but we're running it into the ground because H only uses it to commute to and from work and it should last us another 5 years or so. And we'll probably replace it with the new version of the same thing - can't beat 35 mpg on average! We also got a good deal on the Edge. I'm quite the negotiator. What vehicles are you considering?
Jumping on the appointment today wagon. Not sure what it will entail. If there is a US, my SO and I want him to be there (he was at every appt for DD1). But no US? I would rather he stays home with DD! Otherwise it just seems like a ton of people at a little appt. Maybe I will just take my chances and ask him to stay home.
Anyone else's hips, back, and knees sound like bubble wrap these days? Way worse than usual over here. Yikes!
I just ate the single weirdest sandwich of my life. 4 slices of bread, 3 layers of chips, 2 layers of cheese, spicy mustard and hot peppers.
Cravings are weird, yo.
That sounds like what MH would call an elementary school sandwich - which we've been guilty of constructing and consuming ourselves I'd totally eat that - sand hot peppers though!
