Another winter storm here today so I think we're going to stay inside. It's not supposed to be as bad as last time but freezing rain is mixed with snow for today and that makes for really gross roads.
That's an early morning, Dreaming! I hope the day goes by quickly enough and you can make it through

Stay safe in the storm cattuccino! It's 50 degrees and raining today in Boston. This winter weather has been so strange... This time last year we were busy digging out from under 7 feet of snow. H and I were snowshoeing in the White Mountains almost every weekend. This year the mountains are sheer ice from the rain/freeze cycles - I don't dare venture into them while pregnant, too scared to slip and fall.
Today will be a slow day, not much going on at work. I'm going to see if I can get a haircut - I need one desperately!

Well, it's not Monday! I only had to change my shirt ONCE this morning because of spilling breakfast on myself. And my boss is in micro-management mode. My job includes doing the Facebook for our organization, as well as for the thrift store that supports our organization. Today we are launching a big sale - which I intended to FB about 9am. My boss already posted something on FB at like 7 this morning and THEN emailed me to make sure I FB about it. Yes, that's my job. I got it.
I applied for a job a couple weeks ago I was SO SO SO optimistic about and so hopeful for - it would've been a perfect fit at my college alma mater - and nothing. It shouldn't feel like a defeat, but it really does.
Flair Underwood, colleges tend to take a long time with their hiring processes, so unless you've received a definite no don't worry about them taking a while to get back to you. I hope your day gets better and your boss calms down. Micro-managers are the worst!
I slept through the night last night! I've been waking up at around 4/4:30 the past few nights so waking up with my alarm was glorious this morning!
FIL is flying in today for a few days so I'm spending my morning working from home and doing some last minute cleaning in between work tasks. Very exciting day around here.
It's a rainy morning here today, and I managed to snag the last covered spot in the parking garage at work! #winning
DH annoyed the crap out of me this morning. He had to get up an hour before I did (which is rare) and just hopped in the shower. Meanwhile, the dog is pacing the hall, whining, and jingling because in her mind, people being awake means it's time for her to eat. So I got no sleep (but still didn't get out of bed out of principle) and made a snarky comment to him about it when he came in to get dressed. Don't mess with my sleep, man! Just feed the dog.

I was going to say exactly the same thing. I work in an academic setting and when we have a job posting it's usually several weeks (at least) between when a resume is received and when it hits my desk for consideration. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you Flair Underwood! And ugh, I hate micromanagers too. My boss can be one sometimes and I get so angry. I have 2 doctorate degrees and 10 years of experience in my field - don't you dare hover over me like a school child.
Good luck Flair Underwood, I agree that hope is not lost! Maybe you can send a follow up?
Sorry about all the stow storms and blizzards today! I also get nervous when it's icy while pregnant. It's rainy here today. We have a family dinner with my DH's parents tonight (we do this every few weeks), so it's nice to not have to figure out what to do for dinner.
26 weeks today! 1 week until the unofficial start of the 3rd tri (I know it's really 27 w and 3 days or something like that). Seems so crazy! I read somewhere that viability increases like 3% per day from 24 to 28 weeks (when viability is at 80 to 90%). That's exciting!

txmommy14 yes, we're basically all in that critical part of pregnancy where every day counts! I think it's awesome too, and a reason for all of us to feel optimistic.
Someone at work just gave me shit about drinking coffee. Seriously.
You guys, i swear I'm not always this much of a debbie downer, it's just been a frustrating stretch lately.
I get twtichy about icy weather too, txmommy14 . And WHOO on 26 weeks!!
I always feel like I get a look from people at work when I get coffee or mt dew. Guess how many fucks I give? ZERO! People need to mind their own business.

I have had a cup of coffee every single day of my pregnancy. Didn't miss a single one! Moderate amounts of caffeine are 100% safe, so those people are just ignorant as well as judgmental.
I did get someone at work who told me off for going on a hiking trip last week. She said "That's so dangerous! What if you had fallen?!?". I ignored her. What am I supposed to do - wrap myself in bubble wrap and sit on the couch for 9 months? Not my style.

Yes, exactly. People seem to have been misinformed that pregnant women cannot have caffeine at all. Uh, no, people. My doctor said up to 200 mg/day is fine. And that's more than I usually had even before I was KU anyway!
I'm glad you enjoyed your hiking trip! I see nothing wrong with staying active, and really, hiking is waaaaaaaay down on my list of possibly dangerous activities. Everything in life has *possible* dangers, it's not like you went to an amusement park and rode a bunch of roller coasters. Oye, people.

This is the first time I'm realizing how judgmental people really are. Usually, I assume people just cry about people being judgmental so they can seem self-righteous. But FFS -we are smart, professional, educated women with brains in our heads.
Yeah, people can be super judgmental about pregnancy and it really does become a no-win situation. Not active enough? You're lazy. Too active? You're going to hurt the baby. Not eating enough? Baby isn't getting enough nutrients. Eating too much? You're using pregnancy as an excuse to over-indulge.
On the bright side, dealing with the judgmental opinions does help to strengthen your ability to ignore people because it really doesn't stop after the baby gets here. It just becomes worse.

I was afraid of having the same yet opposite experience yesterday when I asked for the meat on my deli sandwich toasted twice so it was hot. She didn't want to do it and I was afraid everyone was thinking, "Oh, the stupid pregnant lady who believes *that* myth, first timer for sure." Those were my doctor's recommendations and it's not open to public discussion. Our food choices are not a democratic process.
And it reminds me of this article. A lot of the recommendations and advice out there are contradictory, which only makes the opinions of others more ridiculous. I say, listen to any opinions or advice and be willing to learn from it, but find what works for you!
manybellsdown, totally agree... adulting can suck big time.
Flair Underwood, WTF?! I mentally punched them in the face for you...
People seem to be very upset that we have not picked a name yet. Every time I'm asked about it and say we don't know I get all sorts of comments - Like I'm a horrible procrastinator for not knowing yet. It's hard, people! Just relax, she'll get one!

When I was pregnant with DS, I followed allllll the rules. My MIL was constantly praising me for how vigilant I was about what I ate, etc. I have been a little more lax this time because pregnant with toddler = whole different ball game. YES, I WILL EAT THAT SANDWICH BECAUSE IT IS MY ONLY OPTION THANKYOUVERYMUCH.
I did have a woman side eye me when DH and I went out for sushi. Chill out woman, everything I got was cooked. The tuna nigiri looked so tasty though. #sadface

Same here. We have three months to figure out a name people, just chill out!
soultrane, you give me hope, today is day 4 of waking up at 4:45 for no reason at all which is better than middle of the night insomnia but still, by afternoon I've been dragging.
@flair Underwood, is this person a masochist? Not only questioning your beverage intake but before you've properly even had your coffee, insane!
Public transit now that I'm fully showing has been interesting, so far on crowded trains I've mostly been offered seats by random people and not those sitting in the disability seats (which yes I know you can't base on looks alone and they 'could' be legitimately sitting there but it's very unlikely). I'm grateful though because standing for too long had not ended well recently.
I've been sitting at my desk for almost two hours trying to get paperwork done that is due tomorrow, and I can't get motivated. Instead I've been texting with DH about canceling our trip to Arizona and looking at cribs and dressers. I only have twenty minutes before class now so it's not worth it to start it now.
