So I never understood the amount of laundry people discussed bc my dd never had blow outs etc...but man boys are a different story! This kid pees through like five outfits a day! And I only have so many newborn outfits with the mittens on them and I despise the actual mittens bc he always takes them off....so laundry must get done tomorrow! And I had to CUT him out of an outfit the other day bc the poop was all the way up to his neck! Gross!!!
On a good note Jack is doing amazing at latching now! I feel so good about it bc with dd we never really had great supply and with her reflux issues breastfeeding was a ton of stress but he Doesn't have reflux and supply seems to Be good. We have doctors appt Thursday to check his weight since he's not up to birth weight yet (he's only two weeks today though and I've been told breast fed babies can take up to three weeks so I'm not stressing and pedi isn't stressing toooo much but she just likes to check him- unlike other pedis in our office who would be freakinng the duck out!) he's also got a bunch of gunk in one eye so either a blocked year duck or conjunctivitis so hoping to get that looked at and a script written.
Well its not Wednesday here just yet but I'll still have a go at it. We had 5 different types of pacifiers to choose from that were either free samples or someone got for us. At the hospital he had a soothie thay he likes but couldn't keep in his mouth. I did try giving him a Tommie tippy one, it seemed too high and he didn't like it so I went back to the soothie then a week or so later I opened another type (has the flat side on it, not sure what it was called) he liked it ok but wouldn't always take it. So for a whole month I've been trying to hold the soothie in his mouth because he does like it when it will stay in. Tonight (Tuesday night) I open the last kind we have, a MAM and OMG he loves it and can keep it in his mouth on his own! Yay! Oh and in 24 hours and 15 minutes my little man will be exactly one month old.
Depending on the outfit, you can actually work the neck down over baby a catch the blow out. (Not sure if you've ever done this since no prior blow outs;) )

Glad you found one he likes! I got lucky this time and O liked the first one we tried, the Nuk.

If it's a onesie with the fold over things on the shoulders that help their heads fit through you can pull it down over their shoulders. We even do that for pee that way we can just bathe the bottom half! But I know the laundry feeling! We do a load every other day of just his stuff!

I just wish I had tried it sooner considering it was just sitting in a drawer in his room! tonight will be the real test because he likes to fall asleep with it so usually I would have to lay him down and hold the soothie in until he was in a really deep sleep.

What a relief if he can hold it in and fall asleep with it in!!

Yes because he sleeps 4-6 hours usually but for about a week it's been taking him over an hour to fall asleep because I'll think he's out and let go and 5 minutes later it falls out and he's screaming! So if this works I'll be getting to sleep for the better part of the night now!
I took Liam to see my LC yesterday. Little chunk gained a pound in a week! He's up to 8 lbs 14 oz! Found out he's lip and tongue tied. Doesn't seem to have any affect on nursing except a d shallow latch. We may get it fixed because it'll cause problems later with dental work and possible speech delay. Owen has this too.
We are going to get his new born pictures done today! So excited! Hopefully they'll come out good.
My H has been doing so much better with helping out. I feel like I fall more in love with him when I see him actually helping, and taking care of the kids. It makes me feel more loved for sure. He's been more hands on with Owen lately, which I needed. He's currently up with Liam since he decided it'll be a good time to be wide awake. He burped him, changed him, did a light swaddle, and is walking around the house chit chatting with him.
heidih21 My DS loved the Mams too! We went through 5 types before we tried them.
3am feeding club yo! My milk came in yesterday and now I have to massage my boobs for 2 minutes before feeds or they are hard as rocks. I also had my first experience with leaky boobs at our 12 am feed.
My random this morning is that my house is too hot. For some reason, I'm having trouble regulating my own temperature and I keep adjusting the thermostat. But at night it's just too hot. There's got to be a better way!
3 am! Anyone else ever get mad enough to contemplate letting their H survive the night? B was all fed, full, swaddled and in the worlds biggest food coma possible. Laid him in his cosleeper told H where his nuks were and I was going to the bathroom. I come back upstairs and B is wide awake fussing. H tried telling me he just started fussing when I opened the door. I could hear him from the bottom of the stairs. So instead of being asleep by 9:30 I got to finally sleep about midnight. I bitched at him the whole time about how it was all his fault. H even replied half the time.

I have a did and she pees during diaper changes almost every day I'll just have to hold a wipe or whatever I van grab up to her and wait for the flood to end. So much pee laundry!!! it still makes me laugh every time though.
The dictator slept for almost four hours ... it's almost worth him being a nightmare yesterday. DH ended up staying up so I could get some sleep when he got home, like the original plan.
My husband is going out of town for work today and I'm kind of looking forward to it. No visitors, no husband, no need to leave my couch. Speaking of husband, tomorrow is his birthday and he's probably going to pester me for sexual favors. I'm already not in the mood and not really looking forward to it.
So no matter what we do Owen is only sleeping two hour stretches at this point at night. We increased the volume of his bottles from 2 oz to 2.25, I may increase to 2.5 today or tomorrow. I shouldn't really complain since he doesn't really fuss much at all, he's just hungry. He'll be a month on Friday! I think tonight we are going to start trying a bedtime routine. So we hopefully get two hours or so without a baby in the room with us....will it work? We will see!
Also....we are going for our first walk in the travel system today. Its going to be mid-40's and I am itching to get out. His birth announcements are ready so we are going to walk to the pharmacy to get them. It'll be about an hour walk total....hopefully he doesn't flip out since there really isn't anywhere I can stop if I need to.
Last night we had friends over, and DS1 (26 months) puked on the floor about 5 minutes before everyone had to leave. I think/hope he just got himself worked up from a lot of running around. So that was some fun late-night cleaning the floor, shower, and laundry. DH did most of the cleanup, bless his heart.
@nursesouder that sounds like it'll be nice. We used our travel system for the first time with a baby over the weekend. I really like the ease of it. What one do you have?
I just saw how much we owe the hospital and anesthesiologist. Getting a tiny person here safely is expensive!
Evie has such a hard time burping! We have like a 50% success rate. Talking to pedi about it today. She gets gassy but doesn't seem uncomfortable from it. Ughh. Oh and I swear if I don't love this pedi (since I procrastinated and didn't interview before Evie was born) I am leaving. The office staff is awful!!! Misspelled her name (granted spelling Genevieve will carry risks if misspelling but seriously it's a doctor's office-- I hope it doesn't mess up her RX's at rite aid) and take forever to pick up the phone. Plus they still never sent the referral to the ortho physician and didn't call me back. UGH. I did this to myself I suppose
heidih21 we use the MAMs as well. I bought a bunch of 2 packs by different brands to try. He'll take Soothies and Nuks as well but the MAMs are his favorite. I went out and got more a few days after we got home so I have two in his diaper bag and some spares at home. We have like 10 Soothies though since that's what the hospital had and they gave us a whole bunch when we asked!
britb618 maybe try the next size diaper up? FTM here but that seems to be the recommendation with blowouts. As for peeing, make sure his little friend is pointing down-- it took FI about a week to realize I was dead serious on that being a factor on him peeing out of his diaper. Many crying fests and clothing changes were the result of his non-listening
