I heard to not use pull ups because they can't feel they're wet and I read a suggestion to use underwear but you can put pull ups over them so when they have an accident, they feel they're wet but it doesn't leak on their clothes. Anyone else heard of this? DH is getting more aware of when he poops and wants to be changed so I think we're starting to get closer to PT.
Haven't heard of this but it sounds genius! Ds was interested in underwear this weekend so I let him wear some. Took him to his potty every 30 minutes. He took a huge pee on the floor (through underwear and his shorts) and was upset about "big mess." I told him it was okay. He asked to put a diaper on again so I did. I'll just continue to be open about it and encourage it on the weekends until he is interested. We also bought the training underwear from target.

I am not referring to pull up diapers. I am referring to training underwear- they are cloth.
I have these specific ones. They're almost too absorbent. My kid peed in it and didn't even notice, and I didn't either. I like the Gerber ones better, they're absorbent enough that you don't end up with a huge mess on the floor, but not so much the kid doesn't even know they urinated in it.
We are using best bottom training pants with "feel wet" inserts. DS knows when he is wet and he can pull them on like underwear. He stays dry most of the day at this point but still doesn't ask, we just put him on the toilet every 1.5-2 hours.
The Gerber ones are good for home and learning the feeling of wetness while the more absorbent ones are better for daycare, outings and car trips. That way it holds the mess but they don't feel like they're going back to diapers.

Pumped my kid full of juice this morning and have been letting her run around naked. DH suggested to her she should go pee, and she did. About 30min though she peed herself while eating a snack. DH takes her while I'm cleaning up and she pees all over the couch. Good thing it's the couch we got for $5 at a yard sale. About 5min later she's running around with DD1 and pees all over the floor. At least the juice worked! I kicked DH and DD1 out, told them I need DD2 to not be distracted by them and all the wrestling, running, etc. we're hanging out in the bathroom reading and doing puzzles. But she refuses to drink anymore juice. I feel like I totally wasted today by not making DH and DD1 leave earlier.
I cannot imagine having all that going on SpinsOffResonance. We're doing a naked day today. 4 pees in the potty, no accidents, no poop. But also incredibly defiant about wanting to go downstairs (carpet so no) and wanting candy and wanting certain tv that I can't put on and refusing lunch and now refusing to nap. I mean I kinda figured he would be mad but it's gonna be a long day.

I think DD would have had a lot fewer accidents if she wasn't so busy playing with her sister and daddy. It was too much distraction. After they left she went to pee on her own without me telling her. She's there, we just need a day of two at home without her sister to reinforce it.
It went really good. Zero pee accidents, peed and pooped in a public bathroom and at home on all the different potties. Only hold up is poop accidents and daycare. But he seems totally pee trained and working on poop.
Who wants to come pee train my kid? She popped on the potty twice today. I think she'd do well with naked training but I can't watch her that closely.
Watching for the signs and being able to run the kid to the potty were important for me. But also the kid just needs to learn the sensation and holding it.

I think she'd pick it up quickly but I spend so much time soothing the baby, there would probably be many accidents. I'd need to roll up some rugs too. Pretty sure she's ready, but I'm not.

Slow progress here. She can hold it for about 2 hours. If we're at home she will usually say she has to pee and run to the potty. If we're out and about she completely forgets and has accidents. Today I've been making her sit on the potty every two hours, we only had one accident and she requested to pee once. Poor second kids not getting the attention they need. All poops still happen in the diaper during nap .

We literally had a potty in every room, or I carried it with us. We played outside a lot and I did roll up rugs. I bought resolve and gloves but really didn't have to use much since most accidents were outside or halfway in the potty. Maybe in another month the newborn will be calmer and it will still be warm enough to just have her wear dresses no undies and practice.

Mil is coming in a month. I wonder if she'd be interested in staying home one day and knocking this out. DD's favorite potty is upstairs. She won't sit on the downstairs one or the little potty chair so that's another hurdle. Upstairs is all carpet 😧

It was tough because he wanted to stay in the carpet, that's why I just went outside. I would definitely say go out there the first half of the first day so if she has a bunch of pee accidents, you don't have to clean. Once they're in undies- the poop is at least contained. You could have your mil keep the baby entertained and you could PT. I think it would be so much easier not to have to deal with daycare and just being consistent on your own for as long as you need to.

We carried the potty with us all over the house. Did the first day at MIl with both kids, because the bathroom there is gigantic so we could just spend all morning playing in the bathroom.
We are are going to do the naked two days (I don't have 3 days until Labor Day but my mom is visiting) this weekend. I am wondering what will happen with daycare because sometimes she is afraid of the potty there.

The transition with making sure that daycare puts him on the potty often enough is what I'm struggling with.
For naps yes we put a diaper on and tell him clearly it is just for nap and we will take it off when he wakes up.

Yeah. I am going to have to talk to them. I know a few who are potty trained at daycare and I am unsure if they ask or if they are sent. I have seen them go one on one with the teacher and with the class. I would keep after them to send him often. Has he had many accidents?
Thanks for the information about nap. I was going to do that (and at night) for while. I was just not sure if it was the right thing to do.

I talked to the director and teacher before PT and then sent a detailed note when he went back to school. He's fine with pee but still having accidents with poop. They put a diaper on him, which I told both before I did not want them to do. I also don't think they were putting him on as often as I asked and the teacher was under the impression he would ask to go even though I specifically said he would not ask. Most kids take a month or longer before asking to go. Well with daycare, that means I have 3 days of training, 5 days of them messing shit up, 2 days of training, 5 days... It's just really hard using the no pants method because once you put underwear or diapers back on, accidents happen again until they figure it out. I think this must be why a lot of daycare parents use pull-ups or diapers still while training. Which is fine if you've got a year and don't care about getting rid of diapers. But I haven't figured out how to navigate this other than just deal with accidents and keep him diaper free.

Wow. Yeah I would be pissed if they put her in a diaper after I asked not to. Is he really predictable with poop? Clara seems to be so I would say lets make sure she is on the potty 5 minutes or so before that time. I haven't really given much thought on the whole what will happen at daycare. I am now scared.
I wouldn't be afraid, it is what it is. Kids of full time daycare have to Pt just like everyone else. It's just going to be slower. Find out their policies in advance. Here's what I've been reading, if you're interested:
Thank you for that! I will read it tonight! I do plan on asking what would happen if I train her this weekend and bring her in underwear on Monday. I also want to know how the whole going to there potty is going. Maybe I will ask her if I can go in there with her when I pick her up.
