Joining the mastitis club. I'm sitting in the emergency room. Boo, let me go home.
Ugh. A club I know all too well. I'm so sorry. Antibiotics help a lot, I remember telling the nurses in the hospital with DS that I was in more pain than labor! I still stand by that! Feel better soon. If your supply takes a hit and you choose to keep breastfeeding, I have tons of tips to help get it back!
ArgyleEnigma, I'm so sorry you have mastitis. I had it a couple of weeks ago and it sucked. The antibiotics started working for me by the second day and on the third day I started feeling a lot better. I hope the antibiotics kick in quickly for you!

Man, you all are the most supportive group ever. Thank you.
Emergency finally let me out after 3 am. I called in for backup and my mom is coming to watch LO so I can get some sleep. So grateful.
Pretty unhappy about some of the crap that went down at the hospital. Most notably, the doctor told me the meds I would get were safe for nursing, then *after giving me the first dose* a nurse just casually said, oh are you breastfeeding? You'll have to stop. Excuse me?? And what kind of nididgit thinks it's possible to just "stop" breastfeeding?
It seems to have worked out for now, but I was not happy.
Um, between feeding and pumping and oversupply and undersupply etc. etc. etc... What medical professional thinks it's OK to give you medication and then casually mention that you just have to "stop breastfeeding". wtf. Glad you are home ArgyleEnigma and have backup, hopefully the meds work quickly for you and someone gave you accurate info about feeding!
DH took the first night feeding for the first time tonight. Unfortunately baby was not satisfied with 5 oz, so he got me up anyway in the end. I think he probably could have just defrosted more milk, but really wanted to go back to bed... Welcome to the club, DH! But we can discuss strategy at a later date. At least this was a nice short feeding for me, LO is passing out after only half an hour or so.

Yay for a short feeding, at least! I'm hoping this round will be under an hour since he's passing out at the 45 minute mark. Stay asleep, baby!
Overall, I can't complain, they had both been sleeping so well the few nights prior. I would rather them have bad nights on the same nights, I suppose!
DD had been eating every 2-3 hours and at night 3 occasionally 4. We came to my husband's family shore house and this kid has nurses consistently every 2 hours sometimes less even through the night. I feel your pain ladies dealing with the same. It's exhausting.
Also it's a million degrees and even though we are st the beach I was outside 2 hours of the weekend because it's too hot for the baby to be out during the day. I fed the baby and left her with MIL so I could play with DD1 a bit on the beach today because there was a nice breeze. The idea of a summer baby was so great until if was the hottest summer in years and. I feel trapped inside all the time!
We're having a rough night. Baby is gassy and super sad about it and it's making us all feel horrible. We're trying all the things but only getting a few minutes of calm here & there. I'm really regretting all the broccoli I've been eating lately. Sad baby cries are so painful.

I am having a similar night and last night was bad as well. I'm not sure what brought it on, but I'm concerned that what used to be frequent but pain-free spit-ups are turning into painful reflux. No doctors appointment for three more weeks, so I guess I'll keep an eye out and call the pedi if it continues like this. In the meantime, I would love to get some real sleep. He's finally just passed out on me but I'm afraid to move! I'm about to bring him upstairs, wish me luck...
nymama917 similar boat as you. Between the heat and the constant eating I've been stuck inside for a couple days. I'm going to go on a walk tomorrow morning when ds2 gets up to get some colder fresh air. I hope you get a break soon! Can you pump and someone feed so you can enjoy some beach time?
I'll still take summer baby over winter baby. Living in Wisconsin, winter is brutal and to go anywhere you have to be so bundled up.

Seriously! It sucks because even when it doesn't seem too hot to be outside it is because baby is like a little heater and makes it too hot! Fall is s much more comfortable time to have a baby.

Yes! The trapped feeling is so tough. Next time I want a fall baby. Then by the time summer rolls around its ok to use sunscreen and be outside or swim.
