We just got a 6 hour stretch (I think I slept for 4.5 of them in a row). I guess all that feeding the past 2 days finally paid off! I'm feeling good and she just ate for 10 minutes and is almost back to sleep. My let down is really fast and she used to bounce around on the boob and make a giant mess but now she's used to it and can efficiently eat in 10 minutes which is pretty great!

Joining everyone here re the hot hot summer. I really thought I would be outside all the time with my summer baby. But it's impossible. Weekend was brutal. The temp is dropping 10 degrees today for me, and I'm really hoping it helps.
I agree with everyone about having a summer baby. I want to go outside so badly, but it is so darn hot out there. Fall will be here before we know it though.

DS is right before Christmas and it sucks every year. He gets a huge influx of toys in December then nothing all year. And it's so close that it just gets lumped together and will be hard to do bday or ties forever!!
Another tough day for DS. He just seems so uncomfortable. He used to seem completely unaffected by spitting up, but the last couple days he's been wailing everytime he spits up and crying during feedings, which is new. I don't know if I should call the pedi tomorrow or wait a few days to see if it is just a rough patch. He doesn't have another appt until the 12th, so it is a long wait for his regular checkup if something is wrong. He's asleep on me now and I don't really want to move him because he's clearly been exhausted all day but too uncomfortable to sleep. I also have to admit I want some time to decompress without him crying instead of going straight to bed, but I know I'll be annoyed with myself for not sleeping when he wants to be fed in a few hours. Oh well, so what else is new!
vivela so sorry that's happening! I don't see any reason not to give the pedi a call. At the very least you can sort out what they think is going on and have a plan in place so you feel more comfortable. (Of course, I'm a person who calls the doc a lot.)
He ended up sleeping on me until 4, then I was able to put him down until 5:30. After that he wouldn't let me put him down at all. I fell asleep at some points so I think I probably got an hour or two. Chair sleep is not very restful! Definitely calling the pedi today.
Silver lining on the summer babies... At least we aren't a million months pregnant now. My friend is due in September and she is pretty miserable now.
This is so true! DH and I were talking about this and I think I decided that March/April is the perfect time to have a baby. Because that means you get pregnant at the end of summer so you are still able to enjoy drinks before you even know your pregnant. You're not hugely pregnant during the summer and by the time it gets hot you are healed and can enjoy swimming and baby isn't so brand new so you don't feel trapped. So who's ready for a march/april baby?? Lets get on this!! LOL KIDDING!!

We got our first 4 hour stretch tonight! I feel like a new woman! But, I can't fall back asleep now. I need to catch up around here. To say that I've been busy the last few days since I've been back to work would be a huge understatement. I wanted to ease back into it a little more, but I guess I underestimated a few things. I will try to catch up on sleep this weekend. Until then, coffee!
Well, it is 2am and LO couldn't be more wide awake. At least he doesn't seem miserable! DH and I are watching Ironman, I figure I might as well embrace being awake until DS is at least drifting off a bit.
DD woke up at 2:45. It's 3:56 and she's still wide wake. She ate and was changed when she first woke up. At least she's happy and not crying, but I don't see any sleep in my future. I turned on the TV. DH is sleeping.

This is my DS's new pattern. 3am is NOT playtime! Tonight both 3am and 5am are playtime. Go to sleeeeeeeeeeep!

O was up at 3 happy as a clam as well- just cooing and squealing. Fell asleep around 5, then I woke him up at 6:30 to eat. 9-10 week baby deal???

Yes DD was cooing and laughing. Pure bliss...NOT! I was not amused. All I wanted was a little sleep. Then I had to shower, dress and leave home by 7am to drop my 10 yr old niece off for mandatory school placement testing because my sister is traveling for work. The DNC is in Philly so I had to leave super early to deal with traffic caused by motorcades and protestors alike, so that I didn't make her late. I'm so tired!

Oh wow... I'm tired just reading this! Hopefully you get a nap today!
Lo was sleeping 6-7 hour stretches up until 5 1/2 weeks. Now for 2 weeks we haven't had a longer stretch than 4 hours (rare) and normally longest is 2-3. He went to bed at 8:30 and woke up at 11:30, went to bed at 12:45, woke up at 3:15. It's now 4:30 and he's wide awake. I'm exhausted and I won't be able to do this when I start working in 2 days.
mladerri, I don't want to jinx myself but we went through the same thing at around 6 weeks. she's 8 weeks now and for the past few nights has gone back to the longer first stretches she was doing previously.
4:30am - baby wakes up hungry. 5am - baby is back asleep! Record time! But wait, baby has peed out of his diaper all over both of you and the nursing pillow. 5:05am - baby does not sleep through diaper change. tie receiving blanket around yourself instead of new clothes. 5:10am - sit back down to settle baby, baby spits up all over both of you and poops. 5:20am - new diaper, new pillow, new blanket tied around self. 5:50 - baby releases boob from captivity as he falls into deep, limp noodle sleep. Yay! 5:51am - baby instantly crushes dreams of bed by loudly pooping diaper again. 5:52am - maybe baby will sleep through a diaper change for the first time ever? 5:53am - nope. 6am - back on boob. 6:30am - baby is limp noodle asleep again, write elaborate TCF post because too afraid to move in case baby poops.
