LO is perfectly capable of turning her head to both sides and holding it straight, on her belly she looks both ways but when you hold her up she only wants to look one way and you really have to incentivize her to get her to go the other way. She will actually try and turn fully the other way before putting her head to the opposite direction. Is this something to be concerned about? We will def bring it up at her 4 month check up, but do I need to call the doctor before that?
Another one... How do you dress your LO for sunny days? I know long sleeves would be better but I'm having trouble finding "breezy tops" We try and keep her out of the sun with the umbrella or stroller cover thing but still trying

I think most babies have a side preference. Both mine have. With dd1 I made an appointment with her doctor and then when the time came she started looking both ways more. I know if she only ever looks one way it is a concern.

I'm struggling with this too. I keep a hat on her, stay in the shade and use muslin blankets.

MH gave LO formula over the weekend on Saturday because I ran out for a half hour with MIL and of course LO was hungry 10 minutes after I left. On Sunday she pooped and instantly got hives on her little bum. Has anyone had this happen?

I just try to keep her out of the sun and I put a hat on her. If it's hot, I'm more concerned with her overheating, then sun exposure. We are never out long in direct sun light.

If you are worried about possible torticollis, you can look up some basic stretches and exercises to do. There are tons of videos on youtube. I would still bring it up with your pedi, but it doesn't hurt to get a jump on it now.
So I know torticollis is usually one side preference, but LO keeps his head completely straight about 99% of the time when he's sleeping, no matter where he's sleeping. I try to move it to one side or the other when I put him down because he's getting a pretty decent flat head in the back But almost every time I check him, he has moved it straight again. He can and will move it side to side during tummy time or when we hold him up. I'm at a loss. He's probably going to need a helmet because his face is getting wide. We've dealt with this with all 3 babies, DD's did end up evening out and you can't see the flatness at 2 1/2 yrs now.

I wouldn't be concerned but bring it up at next appt. Torticollis is pretty common, Emmy's case was very obvious but sometimes it goes unnoticed and resolves itself. Try massaging neck see if one side feels tighter than other.
When do babies typically grow out of the insert in their carseat?
Your carseat manual should tell you, there is typically a weight limit (around 10 pounds for most I want to say but best to look it up for your specific seat!)

It hasn't been too hot, at least not yet. I'm surprised because usually by now we're in the high 90s ( southern California). We're suppose to heat up by the weekend. I just try to stay out of sun. And I'll stuff his hat in his bag just in case we need it
LO has a flat spot on his head. We try different positions. He hates tummy time but we still do it through out the day. I'm sure it's nothing but I'll be asking the Dr at his 4month check up.

Rompers. Then shade from the sun or put a little sunblock on if needed.

For the BSafe, you also have to move the crotch strap once they are over a certain weight. The Britax BSafe insert stays in mine and doesn't have to be removed like the Chicco one.
When do babies typically grow out of the insert in their carseat?
We asked our pedi this and she said it's not like a hard and fast rule. If you think she is ready try it out, you'll know if it's too soon. We tried maybe a month ago and as soon as we started moving (in the stroller) I knew it was too soon, so we put it back. We just took it out this weekend again and now she is definitely ready. Her head stays up and doesn't wiggle and she looks comfy w.o it.

I took the question to mean an actual insert as opposed to just the head support and there absolutely are hard and fast rules regarding infant inserts for many seats. Best to check the manual. No offense but many pediatricians are terribly uneducated on carseat safety and thus are not the best resource.

J runs warm anyway so I definitely err on the side of keeping her as cool as possible. The extent of her time in the sun is going to and from the car most of the time so I don't worry much.
I've been using her A&A lovey to cover her legs sometimes though. It's small and airy. The regular A&A muslin swaddles, while lightweight, are still too much and get her too warm.

On this topic, can it be too hot to take lo for a walk? I use the Chico car stroller and close it so he's out of the sun, but can't help but wonder if it creates a greenhouse effect in there!

Do not close it! Try to go on walk early a.m. or evening. There it's an article about baby overheating. It was a bit scary. The sun shade should be fine, but don't cover the whole thing.

Yikes! Thank you! I stop often and feel him to make sure he's not warm or sweating, but still.. :/ MOTY.
