W was sick last week, so it was a total free-for-all. He slept in our arms most nights last week because he was so sad and congested. Now he won't sleep in his crib AND he figured out how to roll in the Merlin suit so we can't use it anymore.
I'm looking at CIO, right? He goes down at 7:30ish and has been waking at 9, 11, 2, and 4 for the past 5 days. 😢 Sometimes he will stay in his crib until the 2 AM wake up, but refuses to be anywhere but with me after that. Before he got sick he was down to one wake up at 4. We have never done any CIO. I'm not sure I can do an hour. Any tips, ideas?
You could modify and go in after a certain amount of time to pat baby or talk sweetly then leave again. This makes it worse for my DD but helps some people!

emc, can you try putting him to bed earlier than 7:30?
We had to go through the same thing with DS when he was sick-sick (I swear, he's always sick.. But there was one week where it was worse. I can't even tell you what week it was!) and he eventually went back to his normal sleep habits.

Yeah, I could try an earlier bedtime. He takes a short nap (like 30 mins) around 5:30-6, which fucks up bedtime. I can't get him to drop that nap. Maybe we will try a 6:30 bedtime tonight and push to lose the catnap. I'm pretty flex on his schedule and just let him do his thing, but I've GOT to sleep more than 2 hours at some point.

Just put down Is after a nap strike. She was up 3.5 hours instead of her normal hour and 45 minutes. My passive aggressive mother is visiting tomorrow and I wanted to do a bunch of housework but now that she's asleep I'm just exhausted.
Yesterday Cam fell asleep in the car about 5:30 and slept for over an hour in his seat. Even in the middle of the kitchen commotion of dinner time! I finally let A wake him up about 6:45, fed him dinner, and played with him for a while. He stayed up about an hour then went to bed and slept really well. Silly babies! 😜
emc , our new bedtime also appears to be 6-6:30. I was pushing him to 7 but then he wakes up more overnight.
+1. We had been doing a catnap and then putting him down after DD goes to bed, but putting him down in the 6-6:30 range seems to work better for him. But it is definitely harder for us to make happen. We have (knock on wood) noticed that he sleeps later in the mornings by getting him to bed earlier in the night. (6am or later wake up vs. 4:30.)
Anyone else having teething related sleep issues? DS never had a hard time with it but DD is definitely my little drama queen (those teeth better be gorgeous when they come in). She's been screaming like she's in pain when we lay her flat so I thought ear infection even though she didn't have a fever. My mom took her to the pedi yesterday and nope... Just teething 🙄

Yes. We have had to give Laurel tylenol the last few nights or she screams bloody murder and won't sleep.

I feel so bad for her! We've been doing the same but at some point it wears off and she's back up screaming. I hope it's not like this for every tooth for her...
Oh FML. Up every hour again between the two. And sadly it's the 3 yr old who is the worse sleeper.
He's going through some separation anxiety at home. He wakes up and cries for me to stay in his room, and then he's up for the day at 6. I'm going to lose my mind. I don't know what to do about him.
Lo wakes up to eat and that's pretty much it. Thank God one of them sleeps.

Luckily for us once Laurel is asleep she has been staying asleep. I am sorry it has been so rough for your LO.

I think we're starting this. She has a harder time settling into sleep and when she wakes up MOTN or after naps she cries bloody murder. She used to wake up and start cooing or do her Fran Drescher laugh.
I am wondering if I need to try to up his bottles at DC with the hope of getting him to sleep longer stretches at night.. we send him 16 oz and he usually drinks 12-16 oz. It's rare for him to NOT finish a bottle, but depending on nap schedules, he may not get to the 4th bottle.
We're still having two consistent wake ups per night, and the kid is actively eating for 4-5 minutes, not just comfort nursing. So I'm wondering if shifting that volume to the daytime would help.
AND wondering if I do that, if my daytime output would increase enough to consistently cover 18-20 oz a day.
+1 to wondering if I need to send bigger bottles to daycare. Right now we send 3, 4oz bottles and 2 solids. She is doing fine but still wakes up during the night. At least twice give or take. We nurse before school and twice when she gets home and before bedtime. The only thing really stopping me is a) I might have to buy all new bottles. Current ones are 4oz shorties. We have DD1's old playtex bottles but she didn't like those at first. Not sure if she will take them now that she does bottles. B) inwill have to pump more in order to fill em up. Freezer stash isn't large enough to make up the difference very long.
Early bedtime was a failure. Finally pulled him into our bed at 9 PM after three hours of struggle and he went right to sleep. I do not want to co-sleep. 😢
Does anyone here do Montessori style mattresses? He will fall asleep completely fine if I lay next to him. I know NOTHING about Montessori beds except that they are on the floor.

yep! We never bought a crib in the first place. We have a full size futon mattress in baby I's room and we have a regular full mattress on the floor in our room. We do bed share at night, but I often side lay with him in his bed for naps. Montessori floor beds make for easy stealthy exits. P.s. I do almost everything Montessori LMK if you want pics!

snoris where does he sleep during the day when you have your daycare kiddos?
Ds1 was up at 5 today. WTF. The only thing I can think of is he's over tired, so today I'm driving until he falls asleep. Then I can push bedtime back and hope for a more reasonable wake up time tomorrow. Lo is still sleeping. He had two wake ups, and his last wake up was also when ds1 decided he was up for the day.

ugh this was obnoxious to pass through the state. They wouldn't approve floor beds for children under 2 for fear they'd be stepped on. I had to buy pack n plays but baby I just sleeps on the floor in the baby space. I have to pick him up to let the inspector in anyway so nobody will know. I will follow the rules for other people's kids. Can. Of. Worms. Ugh. P.S. There are plenty of Montessori schools that use floor beds.

Oh that's so silly, I guess Montessori schools have special privileges.
Anyone else baby down to 2 naps a day? This week lo has been taking two naps, usually 3 hours total but then sleeping 13-14 hours a night. He went to bed at 6:40 tonight, we'll see what time he wakes up tomorrow.
ellesea we are doing 2 naps and one small cat nap... he naps 9:30-11:30 then 1:30-3:30. Then he naps from like 5:30-6:00
I could squeeze a cat nap in before he started taking a two hour morning nap. But now there just isn't any room. He is happy and sleeping well otherwise. He is obviously making up for it overnight. Haha
Eesh Baby I's sleep patterns have completely changed since his regression ended. Now he's going to sleep crazy early and combining his evening nap with the big sleep. Fine by me. So yes, technically two naps for us now. Mid morning and early afternoon.

ellesea, birkmmm, how do you get your LO's to take such long naps? Any secret tips? Mine wakes up after 40ish minutes. She naps in her crib with blackout curtains, white noise, and pacifier. My 3 year old did this too until he magically started napping longer around maybe 18 months.
