The last two nights have been sort of yucky but the last two nights he hasn't been home and in bed by his bed time. I'm curious to see if tonight when he's hopefully tucked into bed at his normal time, if he goes back to sleeping better.

They just get worse. And then they turn 3 and it's miserable. My ds1 literally spends his days tormenting my poor dogs and destroying my house. But then they say things like "I love you so much" and "you're my best friend" and you instantly forget the carnage they've caused or the fact that they decided 5am was a good time to start the day. lol
We're going on 2 straight hours of sleep. It's a new record! At least for this week lol I'm beyond exhausted. The 7 wakeups between the two kids last night were ridiculous.
After 2 hours of wiggles and scootching and climbing me in bed, baby I slept well with only 2 wakeups! It's the best we get since the regression. As much as we wanted to sleep, he was so adorable and I loved it. He was squealing like a piggy with delight and was smiling his big gummy grin and breathing on me about an inch from my face. đđI love this boy

We are back to only two wake ups after regression too. And cute little baby coos this morning certainly helped me wake up this AM as well.

We seem to be over the regression and time change too. Two nights in a row of STTN with one pacifier replacement that probably didn't need to happen but I had to pee and am conditioned to wake up at certain times now.
Oh my! It's so nice to hear all of these sleep successes!! We've been back on track the last few nights too after whatever that last ridiculous phase was. Yay babies!
I need help. Cam is waking after every sleep cycle. He wasn't even this bad as a newborn. And he had colic as a newborn...
I don't know how to fix it. If H goes in it takes half an hour of screaming before he'll calm down. If I go in it's 10 min of nursing. But it's literally happening 7 times a night. I need help.

No advice. We dealt with that for a few weeks and then it all of the sudden improved so I don't know what happened. Big big hugs though.

This was what my DS was doing too! He wasn't doing it all night, but almost every hour up until midnight to 1am. And he was hard to get back down each time because, while he fell asleep relatively quickly, he woke every time we tried to lay him down.
Finally one night when the crying was a bit more mellow I ended up letting him cry. Took him 30 minutes. The next night only took 10. Then it was like someone had pushed a reset button on the kid!
We did seem to have a bit of a relapse tonight though. Hopefully he's out now.
Don't know if any of that helps, but I feel your pain.

Last night was sort of better. We had 4 wakeups all before 11, and at some point after that I muted the monitor and rolled over. I vaguely remember doing this. Later in the night I woke up in a panic thinking he had been crying the whole time, check the monitor and he's sleeping peacefully. And the monitor wasn't muted. So idk if I didn't actually mute it, if MH turned it back up (unlikely lol), or if I semiconsciously turned it back up after he went back to sleep and don't remember it. Regardless, it was a better night. I'm hoping we're over the hump.
Just in time to travel next week and mess it all up again. đ

A friend sent this to me and I thought it was hilarious! It's long but worth the read đ
Awake Training for Parents:
Dear Fellow Babies,
OK, hereâs my situation. My mom has had me for almost 5 months. The first few months were great â I cried, she picked me up and fed me, anytime, around the clock. Then something happened. Over the last few weeks, she has been trying to STTN (sleep thru the night). At first, I thought it was just a phase, but it is only getting worse.
Iâve talked to other babies, and it seems like its pretty common after moms have had us for around 5-6 months. Hereâs the thing: these Mommies donât really need to sleep. Itâs just a habit. Many of them have had some 30 years to sleep â they just donât need it anymore. So I am implementing a plan. I call it the Crybaby Shuffle.
It goes like this:
Night 1 â cry every 3 hours until you get fed. I know, itâs hard. Itâs hard to see your Mommy upset over your crying. Just keep reminding yourself, itâs for her own good.
Night 2 â cry every 2 hours until you get fed.
Night 3 â every hour.
Most Mommies will start to respond more quickly after about 3 nights. Some Mommies are more alert, and may resist the change longer. These Mommies may stand in your doorway for hours, shhhh-ing. Donât give in. I cannot stress this enough: CONSISTENCY IS KEY!! If you let her STTN (sleep through the night), just once, she will expect it every night. I know itâs hard! But she really does not need the sleep; she is just resisting the change.. If you have an especially alert Mommy, you can stop crying for about 10 minutes, just long enough for her to go back to bed and start to fall asleep. Then cry again. It WILL eventually work. My Mommy once stayed awake for 10 hours straight, so I know she can do it.
The other night, I cried every hour. You just have to decide to stick to it and just go for it. BE CONSISTENT! I cried for any reason I could come up with:
-My sleep sack tickled my foot. -I felt a wrinkle under the sheet. -My mobile made a shadow on the wall. -I burped, and it tasted like rice cereal. I hadnât eaten rice cereal since breakfast, whatâs up with that? -The dog said âruffâ. I should know. My Mommy reminds me of this about 20 times a day. LOL. -Once I cried just because I liked how it sounded when it echoed on the monitor in the other room. -Too hot, too cold, just right â doesnât matter! Keep crying!! -I had drooled so much my sheets were damp and I didnât like it touching me. -I decided I was sick of all the pink in my room so I cried.
It took awhile, but it worked. She fed me at 4am. Tomorrow night, my goal is 3:30am. You need to slowly shorten the interval between feedings in order to reset your Mommiesâ internal clocks.
Sometimes my Mommy will call for reinforcements by sending in Daddy. Donât worry Daddies are not set up for not needing sleep the way Mommies are. They can only handle a few pats and shhing before they declare defeat and send in the Mommy.
Also, be wary of the sleep sheep with rain noises. I like to give Mommy false hope that listening to the rain puts me to sleep sometimes I pretend to close my eyes and be asleep and then wait until I know Mommy is settling back to sleep to spring a surprise cry attack. If she doesnât get to me fast enough I follow up with my fake cough and gag noise that always has her running to the crib. At some point I am positive she will start to realize that she really doesnât really need sleep.
P.S. Donât let those rubber things fool you, no matter how long you suck on them, no milk will come out.
