I did a weight check w DD today. Since she has been spared the stomach flu so far I wanted to make sure I weighed her before she gets it if she does. She was 11lbs 14.8oz.
At her two month she had dropped from 78th or something percent to 28th. I did an online calculator and her current weight is 23rd. Ugh. Waiting for a call back from the pediatrician.
I've never had this happen. She eats often and until she is full. She never sleeps at the boob. How do I get her to eat more?!?!?

I went to a follow-up gynecologist appt for my iud and she recommended physical therapy to make sex less painful. IDK if I am going to go through with it.
I'm also pretty sure I'm going to get a diabetes diagnosis next month at my endo appt since I've now had a couple readings in the 200s. Fortunately it's not as bad as when I was pregnant and I can control it with diet.
My grad advisor is going up for full professor this year and the tenure committee asked for an evaluation of her as a teacher/mentor. I'm really struggling with being objective because I was dealing with depression and severe anxiety for most of grad school which colors my memories/feelings, and I'm still a little bitter about not being able to get a relevant job post-graduation. I'm not sure how much my evaluation matters anyway, if she's already being considered for full professor after only 8 years as a professor she must be doing pretty well in terms of grant money and publications.
coffeequeen14 oh no!!! I hope you guys all feel better soon.
bocaburger yay for an escape. We need that here from time to time or my DH and I start being kind of mean to each other.
elm1214 ugh. Sending magic sleepy dust your way. I let the baby have a bamboo swaddle blanket while he naps. But I stare at him the entire time. He likes napping with the blanket on his face. He'll cry cry cry and within seconds of it touching his face, he's out. It's so weird.
I'm starving but the babe is napping and I'm too lazy to move

dc2london no I haven't. I'm waiting for the pedi to call back.
She eats her bottles no problem during the day and nurses well when I'm not working. I feel like a crappy mom because she isn't gaining. I know it isn't my fault but ugh.

HAIIII.
I've been MIA for weeks. I'm sorry. I miss you guys.
My current state of affairs - I'm back at work, full time, but I get to WFH 3x a week. DH eventually got 1/2 the money his crappy employer owed to him, but not the rest. He's on unemployment now. He STILL has conference calls almost every other day in which the bosses tell him and his CW's that the $ is coming. It is ridiculous. We're moving down to NC in January. Will be living with his parents until we decide to either rent or buy, depending on the job DH gets down there/how much $ he makes. I will be working for his sister and BIL who run a fun small (successful!) business, and who offered me only slightly less than I make now (And it will go a lot further down South!)
LO is a happy, playful, chunky baby, but he DOES NOT STAY ASLEEP AT NIGHT AND IT IS KILLING ME. There, that helps. I'm sort of on the verge of quitting breastfeeding because I don't know what to do and feel like maybe my body just can't keep up with his demands, but that makes me SO sad because I really do love it. You know, when it's not happening 6x a night.
Anyways, I miss you all and am going to try to start posting regularly over here again!!
hummingbird125spicysalmonrollyoudontsay The four hour "no feed zone" is working so far...my friend said after a few nights of getting the baby to not feed for four hours, she ended up just staying asleep instead of crying and needed to be rocked. R went four hours last night (still having to cry a little, but less than the night before), then a two hour stretch without waking up, then a 1 1/2 hour stretch. Here's hoping in a few days it will become a four hour sleep stretch, rather than still needing to cry. He is still in our room and no CIO for now.
youdontsay I start a new job on Monday too. It's nice that it's after Thanksgiving, but still so soon. Good luck! Hope that living with the folks is going okay.

shanny - Could you explain? Is that 4 hours from bedtime or 4 hours from when the last feeding ended? What if LO just keeps crying?

It's the first stretch of the night. What I tried is nursing (around 10 pm) then one hour later (at 11 pm) doing a dream feed. Then I counted the four hours from there. H is the one that goes to the baby so he doesn't associate being picked up with being fed. If he were to keep crying while being held, I'd probably give in, but I'm a softie. For us, he would cry a few minutes maximum, then fall asleep. He would wake up a few times after that during the "no feed zone," but same thing...he'd fall back asleep. It's not easy and H is tired/cranky, plus I am still awake because I can't sleep if baby is upset. Hopefully it works though and we will get rest again.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do! This was a plan given to my friend for her ~4 month old by a sleep consultant. My H wants to hire a sleep consultant too, but I figure we may as well try the strategy given by a sleep consultant and see if we can get things to work.
My ped says R should be able to get a 4-5 hour long stretch by now and he was doing 2 hours consistently. She also suggested that I sleep further from baby than H so he wouldn't smell me as much and wake more easily to my smell. She also gave the recommendation that someone other than mom go to baby so the nursing association isn't there. She said that at this age too, babies are starting to have object permanence and know when they're alone so they may wake more (the sleep regression at this age, I think).

shanny good luck at your new job! Living with the parents is okay, my dad is obsessed with DD and he's a big help when I have to do grocery shopping or run errands. We were joking around today when we got groceries that this was his training for babysitting duties. He still won't change diapers so that's my mom's job (she WFH so she can't help out a lot).
I've been looking at real estate here a lot, my friend found a gorgeous house that was FSBO, it's a little farther out of the city center than I would like, but the neighbors to the right are either horses or cows (farm next door) so I can't complain.

shanny I feel really skeptical about the no feed zone. I dunno, he is just frigen hungry all the time and we loses his mind screeching. Like legit when I pick him up out of the crib, in the 10 seconds it takes me to sit down and unclip my shirt he is freaking the fuck out because Im not doing it fast enough. So i feel like H holding him with no food would no go over well. But I dunno maybe I'll get desperate enough to try it. hummingbird125 i have always felt like our posts were exactly the same. So much of what you have experienced from day one has been the same with me. And that holds true today. I cried this morning because I love nursing amd want to keep doing it but am afraid I'm not making enough to keep him full anymore. same with crappy sleeping ugh Hugs to you.

He has always sounded to me and still does like he has an undiagnosed tongue and lip tie. The frequent feeds are just another possible symptom. But I know you already had that checked out. Maybe something else causing milk transfer issues? Big ((hugs)). This stuff is so, so hard.

I had a friend this happened to. Her supply seemed totally adequate but her LO kept losing weight. One top off of formula at bedtime solved the issue, but she really struggled with the decision. She already pumped a ton as a working mom so more was going to be crazy making.
((Hugs)). I hope you figure it out. Has an LC checked her milk transfer?
Hi. DD had a cold all weekend. We called the nurse help line and they said she was fine, no red flags, so I brought her to daycare this morning. Daycare called 1.5 hours later and said they've had 2 confirmed cases of RSV in DD's room and she was breathing loud so maybe we want to bring her to the dr.
So I went back and got her and the doctor was able to see her an hour later. She's fine. The doctor actually said she's impressed with how mild DD's cold is since she was a preemie fighting off a daycare virus. Winning?
I'm at work! Don't tell, but I'm happy to be here. I hope Baby Girl is doing okay at home without us (she's with a nanny).
I'm only doing Monday and Tuesday this week and both days will be short. Next week will be more real!
Hope she did well and gave you a recharge with parenthood. Me being back makes my evenings with him more fun and I don't feel as impatient with both kids.
coffeequeen14 DD dropped from 40 percentile to 16th percentile, but then stayed there. Our pedi wasn't concerned since she was gaining weight. And to this day my DD eats so much. As I read further is she gaining pounds? But dropped percentile? Or not gaining pounds?
shanny do you just do one 4 hour "no feed" period. DS gives me one long stretch then after that will get up 2 hours later. Even though during the day he goes 3-4 hours. spicysalmonroll I've tired having DH get DS when he gets up after 2 hours and it doesn't calm him down.
meagpt22 Yup, just one no feed time. I don't really know where to go from there since we haven't even conquered having him stay asleep for that period yet. Sorry I don't have better advice!

Have you tried feeding him every 2 hours during the day to flip that around? My most frequent eaters needed to be stuffed during the day.
I always do no feed zones starting around 2 months when long stretches appear. At this age it is 4 hours min. but longer if the baby consistently goes longer (6 hours for DD3). Then 3 hours after until night is over. Of course if the baby is genuinely hungry I feed, but I try everything else before I feed. The theory is to keep daytime calories daytime. I try to follow my baby plus my pedi on how long to space night feeds.

Yes. I felt recharged and hanging out with her tonight was less stressful for me. She seemed to have had a lovely day, too, but happy to see me when I got home!

meagpt22 she has gained four lbs since birth and is just over three months. She gained a little over a lb in the past month but continues to drop percentiles.
gratefulgirl we haven't done weighted feeds yet. I missed the pedi call this afternoon but expect to hear from them first thing in the morning to find out what we do next.
I've never had these issues in the past. I didn't do anything differently with DD but somehow feel like I've let her down. Like I don't hold her enough so she isn't eating enough. Irrational much?
gratefulgirl when he does every 2 hours during the day he only snacks. But he's starting to have a shorter afternoon nap (less than 2 hr) so no longer missing the 3 hour window. So hopefully that helps. He usually starts the night going 5-7 hour stretches. Then is up 2 hours later. I do think some of its related to his reflux. So at this point the second stretch he should be able to go 3 hours. Maybe I'll keep trying to stretch it out.
shanny thanks! Best for you to conquer one part of night at a time. Good luck!
coffeequeen14 DS has only gained 4 pounds since birth. Hopefully the pedi has some advice or can put your mind at ease. You are doing nothing wrong. You are doing a great job!
