incir, I love Jude. I'm worried about going to far down a Beatles theme. I'm going need to sit DH down and figure out where is head it at. But you've given me some great ideas!
Little girl for us! Dh wanted to use Rayne if we had a boy (a combination of FIL name Randy wayne) but we decided it works for a girl as well. so we're thinking she's going to be Rayne Ivy. we're still not 100% on the middle name but the first name is chosen. Yay!

The only reason we're waffling on the middle name Ivy is because our last name starts with a P, so if we named her Rayne Ivy her initials would be RIP. Dh had more of an issue with than I do, I just joked we'd call her "Rayne let er rip". Plus our first is named piper and her initials are PP..... Seriously kids will come up with all kinds of things with that, so I don't think RIP is that bad.
Piper Lilly-lee - Born Sept 11, 2013 New Tiny Human - Due Aug 7, 2015 August 2015 - July Siggy Challenge - After Pregnancy Plans It will start like this: And end like this!

Eh, RIP isn't that big of a deal. I love the name Piper! I would have considered it, but our dog is named Pepper... Aaand we're having a boy lol.
We now know LO is a dude. So excited, however, the name picking process for a boy has been such a challenge for us. We would really like to name him after his daddy, Lucas Alexander.
Two with the same name in the same house means we need a solid nickname. "Junior" is not for us, in any way, and we want to avoid it from day one. The current thought is using "Xander" as the nickname for Alexander.
Love or hate?
Alexander is a front runner name for us, and I love Xander as a nn.

Our last name starts with S. I LOVED the name Adelyn Sophia but I just couldn't do it to her. You've got to at least make the kids be creative when they try to make fun of other's names.
H is insisting that we use the family name Richard. I really do not like Richard for a child, especially as the most common nn is Dick. The only thing I have found that goes decently with Richard is Lachlan. So baby would be Lachlan Richard Y. which isn't bad, but neither of us look or promote Scottish heritage, even thought H has some 3x Great grandparent who was born a Scottish Laird, so it kinda works. Plus Lachlan is a prominent character in a book series that I absolutely adore. Please tell me its not to weird to name a kid 'Lord of the lakes' when he will be living in backwoods Idaho/Wyoming while growing up.

I'm biased bcse I'm 1/2 Scottish but I love Lachlan:) I don't know why, but I always thought Lachlan meant "without lands"...maybe my Granny mentioned it at some point, I don't know but either way I love the sound of the name:)
Oh, and go for it, een if you don't have a strong connection to the heritage; America is such a hodge-podge as it is that almost everyone's got 1/16 SOMETHING in them to justify a name
mrsaaa, H is telling me its a regional definition. The lowlands is supposedly Lord of the lakes, while the highlands is something else. Also thank you for your opinion.
Owen is a favorite of mine, unfortunately H vetoed it.
We both like Owen, but both agree the middle name Orion doesnt go well with it.. So we may knock that one off our list just for that reason.. Unless we find another middle name we both can agree on that goes with Owen lol
I wanted Owen Wyatt so bad but H vetoed the middle name. Now he's Owen Page.

Ugh we still don't have a name. H is stuck on Brennan, like tunnel vision stuck. I am still very on the fence with it. Basically any other name I mention he has a reason that he doesn't like it. It is like pulling teeth over here

My H got like this over a name last time. Anything that wasn't that name was going to be vetoed because he was so set on that name. I just stopped talking about names for almost a month. Then I slowly introduced some of my problems with his first choice and finally started in on alternatives. After having time to cool down and think about it he still liked the name but wasn't as dead set on it. My son is not named the name that H was obsessed with.
We still don't have a name either this time, but I tell myself that I'm only just half-way through the pregnancy so we have plenty of time. Unless you plan on a lot of personalizing and monogramming there is really no need to have a name this early. Its nice, but hardly necessary.

Can you ladies give me other middle name choices that you think sound good with Evan? I'm fairly certain we've nailed that down as the first name, and the 2 middle name choices that I've come up with H keeps saying no to. First one is Nicholas, which is his first name, and technically a family tradition to use father's first name as son's middle name, but he says because he's 2nd born son, he doesn't have to follow this. I, however think it sounds great together, but he doesn't want to use his name. Second choice is Curtis, and this is his mother's maiden name, and he's lost both grandparents in the last year, and they were super special to him. But he doesn't like the actual name, so doesn't want to use it regardless of the relationship. I again think it sounds great together, and cannot get him to come up with any ideas. So, I'm turning to you all. Please help me!

Sorry your husband is coming down so hard on those middle name choices! Both sound great with Evan and have strong meaning, so I can see why you'd go with either. Is there a name from your side of the family you could use?
Here's some ideas (sticking with more traditional, due to making assumptions based on your previous choices):
Evan Thomas Evan Theodore Evan Christopher Evan Dominic Evan Lucas Evan Matthew Evan Maxwell Evan Nathaniel Evan Samuel Evan Zachary

Thanks for the input! I appreciate it...I was struggling to come up with more names that sounded good with it. Love Evan Lucas and Evan Thomas. I'll throw those out there to him and see what he says. Nathaniel is his brother's name, and they're pregnant with a boy and definitely using it with the tradition.
I had some names from my side, but H shot them all down too. Owen, Edwin, Henry, and Oliver were all from my side on my original list, but he shot them ALL down.
stephanie012, my DH and I haven't even started talking about it yet! I made a list of ideas and I've asked him to make one, but I don't think he's started yet. Beginning last week, I told him I would remind him every few days b/c I do want to get the ball rolling on it.

I swear I married the most fickle man on earth. He just shot down all of those names!!!! GAH...cross your fingers for a girl ladies, cuz if we have a boy he'll never be named. Girl name is picked at least.
So if you saw the name Aveline, how would you pronounce it? My best friend guess Ava-lyn. I'd say A-vah-leen. I love the name, but I'm worried people are going to misspell and mispronounce it wrong. They already butcher our last name, so I don't know if I want a first name like that too.
