Just felt like I needed to post a "resolution" to all the naming advice I've gotten here. You ladies rock! I don't think my little lady would ever have a name otherwise
Anyway, we've decided on Cora Elizabeth. Both family names, DH great grandmother is Cora, which we knew, and recently found out that my great grandmother's middle name is Elizabeth (one of our top choices) which sealed the deal on her middle name.
Just want to chime in and say that we are team green and have a decent list of ideas for girls but hardly anything for boys. And I think it's a boy.
I have been feeling "Raymond Hugh" for the whole pregnancy. Ray for short. I like it because it's an older name that's not too popular now. Ray like a ray of light. Hugh is my dads middle name. The only problem is, do you think it's weird if we have a last name starting with D? RaymonD Dor....
Also my husband isn't the biggest fan of it but I just keep coming back to it.

Thanks curious what you ladies think.
I don't think the "d" sound at the end sounds weird. Example, I think Raymond Douglas would be cute if you didn't already have a middle name.
Haha it never occurred to me that they rhymed until you spelled it out. Gwen and Hen.
But I agree, Gwen (Gwenyth) and Henry sound good together to me.
I had to think for a long time about how they could possibly sound similar. haha so that's probably a good sign!
I call my best friend, who's Henry, Hen sometimes, but only bc it annoys the everliving shit out of him. I don't think anyone else normally calls Henrys "Hen" lol. I love Gwenyth and Henry together though!
trudytrudy, +1 for use Lilith. I was thinking about the meaning, then I realized how often do I meet someone and associate their name with what it means? Never. I think of other people I've known or famous people with that name. In this case, I'd associate Lilith more with Lilith Fair rather than the mythological origin. I also love Josephine though.
radiantly, I don't think it's odd. My name ends in an A and my last name starts with an A and I've never thought twice about it, mainly bc my nickname ends in a different letter. Same thing, if you'd be calling him Ray mostly, the D wouldn't even come into play on a regular basis.
Having issues on the spelling of DD's name. Evaline or Eveline? Pronounced the same, looks like Eveline is the more common spelling, which is what we're leaning towards. Mainly bc Evaline looks too much like Ovaltine and it's weirding me out.
radiantly I like the name and I don't think it's too much with the double D sound.
trudytrudy, late to the party but I actually really like Josephine! Not to mention that if she wanted to go by Jo or Joey once she enters the professional world it might even give her a leg up.
mommabakes I think Henry and Gwyneth are a great sibset!
radiantly, the double D gives me a little pause. Like, I have to stop and think about where one ends and the other begins, but I don't think its a deal breaker for the name, especially if the plan is to have him go by Ray 90% of the time.
trudytrudy, I like both Lilith and Josephine. My main association with Lilith was the character Lilith Crane of Cheers/Fraser, but I am pretty sure that is dating myself and will fade very quickly. And I liked her character. I would not be put off by the meaning.
mommabakes, Henry and Gwenyth are great together. And no one has every called my Henry "Hen" that I know of.
kaeguri, I feel like this same conversation happened earlier on this thread, but how are you planning to pronounce it again? I feel like Evaline makes me want to say "line" at the end and Eveline makes me want to say "leen". I'm not sure where that comes from though and might just be me. Eveline does seem like the slightly more popular spelling, but since neither have been on the SSA top 1,000 since 1926 I would think you are safe either way. And I'm sure I would learn the pronunciation you wanted quickly.
We are still woefully undecided on a name. Our list was down to 2 and then expanded again. No idea how we are going to solve this dilemma.

It probably was, a while back. Yeah Evaline makes me want to say Eva-line. Eveline is more eh-vah-leen, which is the pronunciation we're going for. Maybe bc Eveline is closer to Evelyn?

incir, we are in the same situation. We have not narrowed down our list hardly at all. It is taped up in the kitchen and I look at it every day and I'm having such a hard time.

I can't wait to meet her!!!
Cora is my daughter's name, and it's still one of my favourite names ever. Love it paired with Elizabeth. Gorgeous!!

I'm glad you guys like Lilith bc I was dreaming about it last night so I'm still considering it. And when I initially went to look it up I spelled it Lillith. I agree that spelling matters but I feel like I'd have to decide which version to spell.
radiantly In response to the DD name line up, I remember w my first child I didn't want to do that then just recently when thinking about it again I realized my husband has the same last letter first letter situation and it's never bothered me or seemed awkward. He has a good name.
Also, mommabakes, I think Henry and Gwenyth are a good match.

mommabakes, Gwen and Henry are my grandparents names so I've heard them as a pair my whole life. I love Gweynth and Henry together, I think they're a lovely pair.
So, we were pretty sure on our name- Henry Barrett, but then I started wondering if it works with DDs name- Gwenyth Delia.
So what say you ladies, are Henry and Gwenyth okay together or is it too much of the same sound?
I don't know why people put so much stake in whether or not names "sound" good together. I guess if your other kids were Moonshine, Stardust, and Easter Lily but you named the next one Frank...
