So I'm looking for suggestions: My dad's birthday is today, and I have no ideas for a gift. My dad is usually really active, but he had that accident and following surgery, so he is really laid up for the summer. My first thoughts were books and movies, but he's got a kindle that he likes to read on and netflix, so he's really all set there. I guess I could get him a gc for his kindle, but I usually come up with something more personal than that. I am trying to think of a new summer hobby he could get interested in, since he can't do his normal biking and golfing. He used to paint a lot, but hasn't done that in a few years now. Any ideas?
melohdy (tagging you over here), re: cleaning up toys, when DD refuses to clean up her toys I take it to mean she has too many, so I put some away for a few days.

Oh thatblondie! You have had way too much happen to even begin to deal with it all. I was thinking of you yesterday but I didn't want to pry...
As for your mom, can you just say that he is a little nervous of his new bike and that's why you don't have pics yet? mayve she is having a rough time too but just dealing in a shitty way.
ETA: just saw the follow up post. What @theformerwren said...
thatblondie - I agree with @theformerwren. I am just shocked at her words and hurt for you. It sounds like she has a lot of guilt and since she can't fix it immediately she is frustrated. Hugs to you.
hugs thatblondie! I am sorry you are dealing with this on top of everything you have already been through. I second what both everydayimshuffling & @theformerwren said about how to respond to your mother's email.

Just re-read, my reply makes no sense. I am a zombie. I have no idea how many times I was up last night but between the two kids I don't think I got more than half an hour of sleep at a time. K was a mess, she would just start screaming every half hour or so. Her fever got to 104 but seems to be gone this morning so far. She did that from about 9:30 to 4. O was up every time she was then continued to wake every few minutes too I just got up with him at 5:30. He is all stuffed up and can't keep his soothie in so he can't fall asleep. And he is super gassy because he is trying to mouth breathe and drink a bottle at the same time. Fun times. My H has to work 12 hrs today, poor guy, he was up as much as I was. I'm going to try and sleep this afternoon so I can try to do all the wake ups tonight so he can sleep... He has to work again tomorrow. Send all of the coffee. All of it.
I went to a wedding yesterday in Birmingham, which is 2 hours away. I did all the driving. The wedding was beautiful. It was a really long day and I'm exhausted today. Unfortunately I have to present new hire orientation so I can't just chill all day. I am going to purposely end it early though so I can go home no later than 4.
thatblondie, are you going to respond? Just state the facts. "We gave M the bike but he hasn't had a chance to ride it yet because he was too overstimulated by the party and other things going on. That's all there is to the story....nothing was done to snub or ignore you. It was just a busy day."

Thanks . She did exactly what my dad did his whole life, which was refuse to accept blame. I've told her that I've forgiven her for the past and that my issues are with the present. She has excuses for that too. It's exhausting.
She needs therapy. Have you been feeling any closer to going? Maybe make an appointment for yourself for a month from now or something. I'm planning to go soon for a similar issue I have with my stepmother. I haven't felt like getting into it so I know how you feel. I'm finally tired of running from it though.

The other ladies have said it all, but just sending hugs thatblondie. The older I get, the less time I have for that kind of behavior, even coming from my own mother. I hope you can find the right way to cope with her. If it makes you feel any better, we got DS a Strider bike before he was 2 and he really didn't want anything to do with it until he was 3 (shrugs).
We just gave O her strider bike yesterday. She like it for about one minute and then it fell over and she wanted nothing to do with it. We'll try again later.
A good friend of mine's sister just found out she was 18 weeks pregnant. She was still breastfeeding and never got a period, so she didn't realize. She has the exact same due date she had last November. She could end up with 2u1. I could not imagine!
I am so excited to go to work today. It means I am leaving the house of horrors, filled with feces and puke particals everywhere. And today is the cleaning people day meaning when I come home it will all be gone! Well, for like 30 minutes until my kids come home that is. I am considering figuring out how to say "we've all been very sick, please use bleach everywhere" in Portuguese so I can leave a note.

My cousin had a baby in September and she's due in September again. She is an incredible dumbass and I really feel sorry for her babies. I wish the cycle of stupidity would break. She's the daughter of my dad's half sister so luckily I'm just a little bit related
I hope her doctor has a long talk with her about birth control.

I'm at the point where I feel like this kind of story is told around a campfire at night with a flashlight illuminating yor face. And then pausing before. " 2 under 1!"
Oh gosh. I couldn't imagine babies that close in age! Ack!
anustart1 I'm sorry to hear about your friends dad. I'll keep her in my prayers. I hope you guys get over your sickness soon! That made me laugh about the bed though. Yuck! Lol
everydayimshuffling That sounds absolutely miserable. I'm so sorry you're dealing with two sick littles and no sleep. I hope everyone can rest today.
Hugs thatblondie I don't even know what to say, but know I'm thinking about you.
@colianne31 I hope your day got better and you were able to recharge last night.
@lioness31 Bham AL? What was the venue? That's my neck of the woods :-)

Haha! She just got married last year and her H is in his forties, so I know they wanted to have kids quickly, but not that quickly!

My brother and I were 10 months apart. If I figure right, that means my brother was conceived while I was still in the NICU. Unexpected early return to fertility I suppose? I don't like to ponder it too deeply!
I think this explains much of why my parents don't remember milestones etc for me ... they were too busy dealing with everything having 2u1 ;-)
thatblondie I swear you're taking hits from every direction. You are an incredible woman with a beautiful family. This shit show will conclude one day! Try to take care of you!
I'll say it again... Why can't people just do what they are supposed to do and not break the rules!! This world would be a happier place!!!
