Where is everyone? Hopefully sleeping because we arent. We've been trying to get Owen down for the last FOUR hours. He falls asleep, we finally get him down, then 15 minutes later he's up. DH did take over for one shift so I've slept 45 minutes. Otherwise, I've been crying a lot because it hasn't been quite this bad in weeks. I just want to sleep. I even moved the swing in his room and he wasn't convinced. Wishing you all much better nights than what's going on here!

I'm up! We stayed late at my folks place because dad and I are canning pears. We came home and I fed T and put him (asleep) into his bed. He started giggling in his sleep about 10 seconds later, then his eyed popped open and he smiled at me, like, "Just kidding!"
DH is doing battle with the other 2. Hopefully this one will go back down for me soon.

carolyngrace how have you been with keeping up since going back to work? I start in 2 weeks and I'm nervous about keeping supply!
I'm up pumping now, DD was a dream to put to bed tonight. I think it's true that sleep really does beget sleep because she took awesome naps today and actually wasn't overtired by bedtime!

It's been a little hard to keep up! I pump approx 4oz less than he eats each day so I try to do extra at night but sometimes I'm too tired.
Owen finally went down at 2am. But then he slept until 615 which is one of the longest stretches he's had. He slept a ton yesterday because he didn't feel good from shots. Then I tried to wait until after 9 to put him down when he was clearly tired around 830. Sigh. One day we'll get there. Hopefully it involves less crying than last night. I plan to have him wake up around his normal time even though it's about 4 hours less sleep than normal. I can't have his schedule changing to going to bed at 2am! I realize it may have been a fluke but it was not fun for anyone involved.

FML. Just pumped because db went down at 8 and I was still up almost 3 hours later. Figuring it would be at least 1-2 more hours before he wakes. But of course not. I really hope my boobs let down again so I don't have to give him a pumped bottle!
In other news he woke up because he got his arms free. Out swaddling days are numbered and I'm scared.

V broke free of his swaddle a few nights ago and we had an extra wake because of it. His swaddles are the small size and he has almost outgrown them. Not sure how we're ever going to sleep once I can no longer swaddle his arms in!
I finished reading the 15 page long sleep thread on May 15. Lots of good info there. I'm probably going to bite the bullet and start swaddling one arm out in a week... Or two. Luckily db is already sleeping flat in his own space. I don't envy people who have to go from the RnP to the crib, unswaddle, AND move to the nursery. That's a crap load of transitions!

We have been successful with the crib transition... then I freaked and decided I wanted her to keep rooming in. Turns out, she doesn't like the pack n play mattress bc we slept like shit last night. (She had been sleeping in the napper.) Now, tonight she passed out in the rnp so I figured I would just keep her here and sleep on the couch. So much for "routine." Sigh.
Tonight is our first night in the crib! I go back to work next week and I need a more sound night of sleep with only the monitor to keep me up. We took a last minute trip to Chicago and I forgot to pack the swaddle blanket, so I had to improvise. Needless to say, lastnight was not a great night of sleep. Hoping tonight goes better!
Yeah, I've been keeping my baby on my chest as well. I wake up stiff and achy (from being completely still) but I needed that nap! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.

Yeah, that's us.
Well if it encourages you at all, going from RnP to crib was a total non-issue for us!

FFThC- uh, I bought the large sized swaddle because I just can't make myself start the transition out of it! She's an amazing night sleeper and I will cry if that all come crashing down. *insert embarassed face*

I'm with you. We get 7-9 hours a night swaddled in the RnP, so the idea of changing anything makes me want to cry. My cousin told me about this thing called a Zippadee Zip; it's like a starfish sleeper that technically has hands free (though covered), but lessens the startle. It was a shark tank product and in reading the reviews, it's a great way to transition. I might buy one soon to try out.

budders let me know how you like it if you end up buying it! I'm not sure if the swaddle is so successful for or us because she can't knock her paci out while trying to fall asleep (she's fine if it falls out after she's asleep) or because it lessens the startle effect...I suppose there's only 1 way to find out!

DB woke up from his last nap at 4:15. So it was either take a 6pm nap and then probably not sleep until 8:30/9pm, or do early bedtime....
So I put him down at 6:30 and he was asleep by 6:45. This is the earliest I've ever tried, so we'll see what happens! (my guess is he'll be up at 7:30 acting like he had a nap, but hopefully he'll go back down).
Tonight is going to be a long one. LO is showing no signs of sleep despite feeding for an hour and a half and being awake most of today.. SO on the other hand is sleeping soundly.. Yay for him.

My LO just will NOT stay asleep.. the past 2 days all she wants to do is eat eat eat and snuggle on me, if I put her down she'll catnap maybe but mostly just wakes right up when I set her down. At night we've had to revert back to swaddled in the RnP rather than her PnP, and seriously sit there and rock her for a solid hour (not the automatic one.. god if Id only known..) before she's asleep enough to leave her be. Then its maybe 2 hours before she's up to eat again, up for 2 hours and an hour of rocking her back down again. Long nights, plus Ive got the flu or something. Maybe she feels under the weather too? She nursed ALL day today, every hour or more. God Im tired.
E has been such a good sleeper at bedtime lately... Until tonight. He has been constantly wiggling and making every noise possible for the last 2 1/2 hours, and fusses or cries if I'm not holding him. I know we are going through the third leap right now, but after fighting any kind of decent nap all day today, tomorrow had better be different!

M has been giving me a run for my money this past week. Our first stretch in the swing is always decent, 5-6 hours, but there is no second stretch. He wakes up every hour from 2:30 on and the only way we sleep is when I give in after 4 and let him sleep on my chest, on the couch. He breaks out of the swaddle, doesn't sleep flat, and doesn't care for the paci after the first stretch of putting him down to sleep.
And during the day he will only sleep on me if I want more than 30 min nap. I don't know where to start with him or what to do at this point.

You're living my life, but slightly better! Last night was the first night in a week that the first stretch was more than 2 hours (it was 4). I'm trying to make sure he eats ever 2 hours during the day so I can be sure he's not too hungry at night. I was also trying to put him to sleep earlier, but after going to bed at 8:30 last night, he actually slept decently...not sure if that's a possibility for you! Hopefully all of this horrible sleeping now means we get to skip the 4 month wakeful...that's what I tell myself to get through the day...as LO is asleep on my chest because I was desperate for him to take a decent nap...

Okay this could have been written by me today. Wont nap during the day unless she's on me, the second I put her down she wakes up.. her first night stretch has shrunk down to 3.5 hours (she had been getting to 5 or 6), and after that its just fussing and constant waking. Also, shes eating CONSTANTLY during the day, like every hour. 10 weeks today. Any insights? Leap people, is this a leap? Im thinking oddly timed growth spurt. Who knows.

She would just be coming out of a leap. Weeks 10-12 are supposed to be pretty "sunny"... Sorry that sounds exhausting!

M is 10 weeks today too and Wonder Weeks says we have 2 days left in our 2nd leap. I don't know what's better at this point. More sleep > falling asleep on their own? I've tried reading HSHHC but I just don't think its straightforward or I'm too sleep deprived to implement it. He's fussy but not colicky (anymore I don't think). He's just irritable after the first stretch wakeup/feed. And he's not even that hungry because sometimes he only takes 1-2 ounces, so I know he COULD sleep through the night.
