Found out today I have to have a hysteroscopy sometime in the next few weeks for my retained placenta. I have to pump and dump for 24 hours after. So now I have to somehow get enough of a freezer supply for a day and get my baby ti take a bottke for a full day when hes never had one. Miserable.
T&Ps for you. I would do formula for a day to not worry about having enough frozen. If you do pump to get some extra, right after morning or MOTN feeds are your best bets.
DD is four weeks and we tried our first bottle of pumped milk this evening. She was not interested. We had the same problem with DS. He never would take a bottle and I am determined the same thing won't happen this time. Mommy needs to get away occasionally. Does anybody have any suggestions? DH gave it to her, it was freshly pumped milk so the temperature was good, we tried two different types of bottles, and he tried several ways of holding her. I am not sure what other tricks to try.
Have YH try without you in the house.
I was on the other side of the room and didn't talk so hopefully she wouldn't realize I was there.

Ummmmmm--- I thought one of the perks of breastfeeding was no periods?!? Pretty sure I have my period ?. Wah wah..... Anyone else with this similar experience?

Last time, I got my period six weeks after birth. And every month after. I was also breast feeding. But I've always had notoriously bad periods. And don't be weirded out when I say this but my grandma was the same way with all four of hers. Breast feeding and having her period immediately after.
I'm heard they can smell you from 30 feet away. Don't know the accuracy of that though.
Whoa I was curious so I Googled it and yeah, it says babies can smell their mother 50-100 feet away, so leave the house when first introducing the bottle.
Ok that's creepy. Why are babys.so creepy sometines?
That is so awesome. We can't smell it thay far-away. Heck I couldn't say I can smell and it is attached to my body. The fact that the know when you might be that far away is pretty dang cool. Frustrating if you are trying to hide from it but pretty cool.
Am I over feeding DS? I put him to the breast but he never seems satisfied and often we find ourselves giving him a bottle of expressed milk after. I'm worried I could be over feeding him.
Why is never satisfied from the breast?! I'll let him go for an hour sometimes (often needing to wake him).
I asked a friend who is a pediatrician before, she said give him a pacifier to check if he's truly hungry. I've stopped BF because i thought i couldn't satisfy his hunger, turns out he just wanted to suck most of the time, the supplement bottle was mostly the sucking session and he was eating too much. We had really bad gas issues before we dialed down his bottle amounts.

Now I don't feel so bad sticking my finger in his mouth to check if he's hungry since he can't keep a pacifier in. My little piggy will gladly drink whatever you give him in a bottle, unless I'm in the same room pumping. Which now makes sense if they can smell that far.
He likes to sleep with my boob in his mouth. Like wails until I go to nurse him and then doesn't even pretend to eat once he latches. Just conks out. I need a fake boob for a pacifier. Babies are so creepy and weird.

Why has no one invented the fake boob pacifier yet?!
Thanks for the responses, ladies! LO's appointment is tomorrow; I decided to get him evaluated despite the LC's position on the non-existence of lip-ties.
Is anyone using a nursing pad that they actually like? I have used the cheap BRU disposable ones and the Ameda disposable ones and I hate them both-- they make my boobs look lumpy through my shirt, boooo. I leak and I'm using lanolin, so I need something to protect my bras. Are washable pads the way to go?

I use washable pads but find they absorb less than the disposable. When I haven't done laundry and have to use some disposable ones, I use Medela. I like them but that is the only brand I have tried.

I hate both of the washable pads I use. They leak like crazy (medela and nuk). Then they start to smell even though I'm washing them according to the directions.
I've been cutting up some of the extra overnight pads I bought and using those in the meantime.
I need to look up how much the disposables cost compared to pads/panty liners. I had a sample of the lansinoh and really liked it.

For washable, I also use the Bamboobies. The overnight ones look a little lumpy under shirts, but the daytime hearts are thinner (I wear them upside down so they're not lumpy). I also used Lansinoh disposables in the beginning and liked them since my nipples didn't stick to them when they were sore and cracked.

One of my breasts is super sore and achy. Not the nipple but the whole thing. Do you think that could be the start of something? I would rather do preventive stuff than end up with an infection... Have any of you experienced this?

cginge I use Lansinoh disposables & I like them. Haven't tried anything else. They absorb well & don't look bulky under my bra as long as I make sure to put them in unwrinkled. I like the adhesive to help them stay in place in my bra & so they don't fall out when I pull my bra aside to nurse. (Wearing soft sleeping nursing bras.)

Is the breast hard? My guess would be that you have a blocked duct starting. Nurse/pump on that side and it should clear up.

Dealing with this now. Massage the breast firmly from the outer area to the nipple and if you do this while in the shower it works better with the moist heat loosening up the duct. Also, if you notice a red area on the breast that is a pretty clear sign of a clogged duct. Sorry you're dealing with this but if you scroll down the threads I posted on on Saturday and you can see all of the awesome advice the girls gave me.

I also use the disposable Johnson & Johnson ones. That's what they gave me at the hospital, and I ordered more once we were home. I leak right through the fabric ones I used when I was pregnant, but the J&J ones are thick and absorb a lot.
